Director, Corps Readiness

The Director, Corps Readiness leads the efforts to confirm and matriculate the Greater Tulsa corps, ensuring they are prepared to join the work in region and building a positive corps culture along the way. The Director, Corps Readiness will work with our regional partners to oversee the corps member hiring and licensing process and will coordinate the design and delivery of corps member onboarding to prepare them to arrive in and begin teaching in Greater Tulsa. The Director, Corps Readiness will lead the planning and execution of corps member induction, welcoming our newest corps members to Greater Tulsa and inspiring them about our work in the community. The Director, Corps Readiness will report directly to the Senior Managing Director, Corps & Alumni Leadership.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Articulate a vision for excellence in corps member confirmation, matriculation, hiring, onboarding, and induction
  • Create and manage a world class confirmation and matriculation strategy that allows us to build a diverse force of corps members
  • Design and laterally manage others to design a scope and sequence for corps member onboarding that equips our incoming corps with the knowledge, skills, and mindsets to become path-changing teachers and leaders for educational equity
  • Ensure incoming corps members are licensed to teach in the State of Oklahoma, according to district, state, and organizational requirements, by the first day of school
  • Design and execute a strategy to create a thriving TFA community among our incoming corps and to meaningfully connect them early on to other members of the TFA community (corps, alumni, staff).
  • Lead the planning, project management, and execution of corps member induction, welcoming the newest corps to Greater Tulsa.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Teach For America corps member and/or staff member experience is preferred
  • Four years of experience achieving ambitious outcomes and managing projects preferred
  • Experience with adult learning design and/or teaching/coaching adult learners preferred
  • Experience working in the Oklahoma educational landscape is preferred, but not required

  • Ability to design high impact adult learning experiences, both virtual and in person, that lead to measurable outcomes and build culture
  • Ability to build relationships and create alignment with individuals from a wide range of perspectives
  • Ability to influence others (peers and/or corps members) to achieve outcomes; experience in lateral management preferred
  • Ability to project plan, track tasks, assess progress, and follow through on the execution of plans
  • Deep understanding of race and class and a commitment to social justice
  • Ability to analyze and use large amounts of data to inform and adjust strategy
  • Strength in developing strong peer relationships that drive results and contribute to a thriving culture

Work Demands:

  • Ability to travel to in-person meetings in various U.S. cities [1-2 times/year]
  • Ability to travel independently, by car, to multiple locations for work each day that may be significant distances from one another
  • Occasional weekend or evening work is required
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 20 pounds for work purposes.
