Position Title: Associate Vice President of Community Services

Position Overview: The Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF), founded in 1980, is the national non-profit organization dedicated to improving the diagnosis, treatment and quality of life of people with primary immunodeficiency diseases (PI) through advocacy, education and research. Through the work of a national volunteer network and a professional centralized staff, IDF serves all individuals and families affected by PI.
Knowing first-hand how members of the PI community face significant challenges, it is a priority of IDF to identify and develop resources and services to meet the needs of those who live with PI – whether a person is newly diagnosed or has been living with PI for years. This includes providing information that helps them to better understand and manage their conditions, and helping them to connect with others who can provide support and guidance.
Reporting to President & CEO, the Associate Vice President of Community Services will oversee, develop, and implement a variety of programs that advance IDF’s mission and objectives. This position will have a special focus on engaging more people who are living with PI but may not be connected to IDF, thus helping them overcome challenges they face. This position ensures that - at each stage in their journey - people living with PI receive the resources they need to improve their quality of life.
The position is responsible for the overall administration of the PI Community Services Department. This position will both enhance existing programs and create new initiatives to reach both broad and narrow audiences. This will help IDF not only serve the PI community as a whole, but also fulfill the needs of individuals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage various IDF programs to engage members of the PI community.
- Evaluate programs and implement strategies to broaden the reach of IDF, connecting new people to the Foundation.
- Oversee IDF Direct, Peer Support, and Volunteer Network programs.
- Develop and execute affinity group programs.
- Create programs to engage constituents based on diagnosis and life stage.
- Serve as the lead on all diagnosis-specific engagement and community-building.
- Write both general and diagnosis-specific content for communications, including social media, newsletters and websites.
- Oversee IDF Youth Program, Teen Program and Young Adult Program.
- Collaborate on projects related to the engagement of current and prospective industry partners
- Periodically travel, and attend evening and weekend events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience:
- Management of one or more full-time staff members
- Demonstrated experience with program evaluation
- Experience with PI or other rare diagnosis communities preferred
- Proven track record of constituent acquisition and engagement
- Experience managing volunteers and volunteer programs preferred

- Web, digital and social media savvy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
- Familiarity in using constituent relationship management (CRM) databases.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Is able to travel by automobile, train, and airline.
Is able to interact with groups of people in healthcare facilities, in small group settings, and at large events.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, stand, climb stairs, and sit for long periods of time; use hands & fingers for writing and typing; possible lifting of supplies and materials up to and including 20 pounds multiple times. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision for reviewing documents on the computer or hardcopy.
