Responsible for support, planning and implementing communications, public relations and employee communications to support membership growth and retention, program growth and financial development efforts for the YMCA/JCC of Greater Toledo. Responsible for building the YMCA brand and associated image with key audiences, including members, prospective members, donors, elected officials, community leaders, employees and the regional community.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Consults with management to develop internal and external communication messages to support business strategies. Serves as brand manager to ensure YMCA brand and graphic standards are consistently represented.
- Support and implement an annual marketing plan to support the association’s strategic initiatives.
- Hires and supervises all staff within the Association’s Marketing Department.
- Develops and/or oversees the development of all YMCA marketing/communications materials including brochures, program guides, direct mail, advertising, press releases, campaign literature and support material, annual reports, videos, website copy, photo stock, digital marketing collateral, etc. Works with the association management staff, branch management staff, and outside resources to produce high quality and cost efficient communications.
- Oversee and regularly audit and evaluate all marketing materials in use at all Branches to ensure compliance with Y-USA’s Brand Visual System and Voice and Messaging Guidelines within: program guides, flyers, newsletters, etc.
- Develop and monitor the Marketing Department budget.
- Writes core website content and works with the appropriate IT staff to ensure graphics are consistent with the YMCA design and brand standards.
- Ensures that all YMCA programs have a corresponding page on our website and a corresponding Google Ad-Words Grant campaign for our highest priority programs and services offered.
- Coordinate the Association's email communication - help train staff members, set guidelines for use, assist with content, etc.
- Develops and oversees the execution of all Social Media sites and sites like Google that shares Association information with the public.
- Assists in the development of the Intranet and common content. Develops Intranet based employee communications and newsletters and distributes regularly.
- Provides media relations, speechwriting, annual support campaign materials and donor relations support to the YMCA President & CEO, and the vice presidents.
- Plans and/or supports, implements major YMCA events, donor events, etc.
- Maintains the photo library and portfolio of success stories and testimonials for use by staff members, volunteers and reporters.
- Supports and coordinates with the Executive Director of Membership, major regional presence at Health Fairs and Trade Shows.
- Evaluates communications to audiences, including news media, industry groups, social media channels, web presence and employees. Makes recommendations to enhance the success of future communications.
- Shares key YMCA Marketing materials with all YMCA Shared Services Associations.
- Communicates office policy, procedures, and changes to all staff.
- Fosters an inclusive work environment.
- Works effectively with volunteers on the Marketing Committee, Board of Trustees, Branch Boards, etc.
- Communicates to direct supervisor any suggestions, concerns or incidents that may need follow-up.
- Serves as a campaigner in support of raising donations for the YMCA’s Annual Campaign.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field required.
Skills/Experience:
- 5 plus years of marketing, communications and writing experience with proven project management skills for special event planning. Budget development and administration skills preferred.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license, insurable driver’s record according to the YMCA’s insurance carriers, and have reliable transportation to travel for business meetings, training events, YMCA site visits, vendors and suppliers, etc.
- Computer skills needed, particularly with Microsoft Office and email applications, along with ability to learn the internal YMCA software.
- Social Media Marketing experience required.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud preferred.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00
