The 350.org Japan Field Organiser will work with the 350.org Japan team to achieve its campaign goals and strengthen the movement away from fossil fuel dependency towards a 100% renewable energy future for all. The Field Organizer will be expected to establish new connections with key individuals, explore opportunities to achieve, advance and refine 350.org Japan's campaign goals. The Field Organizer will also be responsible for coordinating on-the-ground campaign activities including maintenance and management of relationships with local partners, executing actions, increasing 350.org Japan's network, and expanding and managing the existing 350.org Japan volunteer community. The Field Organizer will work as part of 350.org Japan team and will also be working occasionally with other members of the 350 East Asia regional team. This is a full-time position based in Japan. The employee will report to Shin Furuno, the 350.org Japan team lead
- Supporting the 350.org Japan team to achieve its campaign goals
- Leading online and offline recruitment of new volunteers and supporters;
- Leading maintenance of offline engagement of volunteers and supporters;
- Leading and supporting the maintenance of existing connections and building new connections with key-persons and organizations;
- Organising logistics, registration, appointments for successful execution of seminars, workshops, events and actions
- Supporting the digital campaigner in engaging audiences online and promoting volunteer opportunities/events;
- Leading and supporting creative projects such as the creation of visual products including event promotions, videos, flyers, logos, websites, and action props to amplify campaigns;
- Supporting the campaigner, digital campaigner, communications officer by providing input over direction, strategy and output;
- Supporting team members and interns when and where assistance is needed and appropriate.
- Supporting the writing, editing, proofreading of texts/blogs/articles/social media and translation of English-Japanese /Japanese-English texts
- A strong motivation to solve the climate crisis through grassroots organizing
- Is passionate and/or has a strong interest about climate change, fossil fuel finance, and environmental conservation
- Equipped with excellent organisational skills especially on volunteer engagement and/or community engagement and management
- Has excellent communication skills and loves meeting and working with people
- A strong desire to learn and constantly improve
- An openness to advice, feedback and constructive criticism
- Flexibility and capacity to adapt to new and evolving situations / working environments
- Confident to make independent decisions while also welcoming external input
- Experience working / adapting / communicating with people from diverse cultures
- Excellent oral and written communications skills in Japanese and English
- Ability to carry out evolving and competing tasks and meet deadlines
