Richardson Bay Audubon Center & Sanctuary, Tiburon, CA, is looking for unique individuals with a passion for engaging young children about the wonders of nature and the environment. 

Audubon Adventures Camp is a fully inclusive outdoor camp with nine week-long sessions for children ages 4-9. Within the camp weeks there are also two weeks of Expedition Camp for grades 4-6 and half-day/week long camp for three-year-olds. Summer staff also mentor teens in our Audubon Youth Leaders program. Time commitment is 10 weeks:  June 10th – August 16th.

Areas of Responsibility: 

This person will report to the Center Director and work with all staff, volunteers, students, and the community.

Teacher Naturalist responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and implementing camp curriculum and coordinating camp projects;
  • Preparing materials for camp and clean up materials after use;
  • Mentoring Audubon Youth Leaders;
  • Leading camp activities in an inclusive, engaging, and safe manner;
  • Developing conservation and stewardship activities for camp participants;
  • Take out trash and recycling from classrooms each week;
  • Stock kitchen and bathroom supplies as used during camp;
  • Additional functions as directed by supervisor;
  • Additional duties that contribute to the success of a non-profit.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Capable of creating an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere to awaken children's curiosity for and enjoyment of nature;
  • Able to engage well with children, teens and adults, and parents;
  • Experience working with children;
  • Experience engaging children;
  • Ability to plan and conduct nature-themed activities for children;
  • Reliable, self-motivated, emotionally mature, creative and team player;
  • Interest in local natural history and the outdoor environment;
  • Willing to work outdoors in any weather as necessary;
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification required;
  • Physical Requirements: (e.g., lifting, reaching, climb, push/pull, etc.)
  • Willing and able to play outdoors for extended periods of time with children;
  • Occasional heavy lifting/carrying.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary $13-$15/hr, depending on experience, 40 hours per week
