This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position has overall operational responsibility for the Association, providing leadership to executing the Southeast Ventura County YMCA’s strategic plan and ensuring successful operation of the branches at our Y, including membership, program development, volunteer recruitment and development, staff supervision, community relations, collaborations, budgeting and financial results. Areas of Responsibility:
- Supervises branch Executive Directors and other assigned professional staff to assure sound operations. Provides leadership and direction to the branches by coaching branch executives and by providing overall direction to the branch boards and volunteers. Models relationship-building and Listen First skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members and the community.
- Strategizes with the President/CEO and other Senior Executive Staff in executing the strategic plan of the Association and implementing the goals and objectives as approved by the Board of Directors.
- Monitors monthly financial reports of each branch to assure revenue targets are met and expenses are controlled.
- Ensures the operational growth of the YMCA through program expansion, member recruitment and retention, pricing strategies, new site development, collaborations, and mergers and acquisitions.
- Identifies potential areas for branch cooperative programming to accomplish YMCA goals, and works with staff groups to develop and implement programs. Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs and leads branch and corporate staff in the planning, development and implementation of new program initiatives and activities.
- Provides reports to committees, the Board of Directors and the President/CEO.
- Provides staff leadership to assigned committees of the Board of Directors.
- Implements and oversees services and program evaluation systems to ensure consistency with the Y’s cause and standards.
- Directs and provides support to branches, programs, PMT’s and task forces to achieve and surpass agreed upon strategic goals.
- Collaborates with the financial development and marketing departments to ensure efficient and effective communications and financial development within the Association.
- Evaluate current systems and procedures for operations management addressing deficiencies when necessary and implementing new procedures where needed and agreed upon by the CEO.
- Creates a positive and collaborative climate under which new programs are developed, staff development is encouraged and the goals of branch operations are achieved.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the President/CEO.
Educational Background:
Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Management, Business Administration, Non Profit Management or related field.
Skills/Experience:
- Eight or more years of professional experience in the YMCA or another nonprofit preferred with multi-site operation.
- Knowledge and experience in all aspects of operations, including human resources management, risk and safety, staff supervision and development, performance management and development, successful membership practices, quality program development and implementation, volunteerism, facility and property management and financial practices.
- Ability to analyze a problem, define the issues, weigh alternatives and arrive at sound and firm decisions.
- Demonstrated track record for producing growth and strong financial results.
- Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community with a clear understanding of the relationship of the general public to the YMCA.
- Track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with community organizations.
- Passionate commitment to the YMCA mission and communities we serve.
- Willingness to move on situations with reasonable speed, taking required actions without being prompted, urged or directed.
- YMCA Organizational Leader certification preferred or required within 2 years of employment.
- Clear Background clearance, including fingerprinting.
Compensation/Benefits:
$100,000.00 - $120,000.00
