The Eastside Family Branch serves residents the fastest growing communities east of Greenville's metropolitan area.  The Eastside Family YMCA is nearing the completion of a capital campaign for an 8,700 sq ft expansion.

The Executive Director will enhance the success of the branch through an increase in community engagement, membership, and program participation that reflects the area's rapid growth in family and youth populations.  The Association desires an individual who is cause-driven and implements best practices that will support a culture of excellence and quality.

With a growing budget of $20M, the YMCA of Greenville excels in serving its community with cause-driven programs and initiatives focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Greenville, S.C. is 45 minutes from the Blue Ridge Mountains and three hours from the Carolina beaches and Charleston.  The YMCA of Greenville encompasses eight strategically located branches, with our Metro Office situated near Greenville's vibrant downtown, which has been ranked among "America's Ten Best" by Forbes Magazine.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Strategic Initiatives:

  • Foster a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies as established by the Association's CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Direct branch-level strategic planning efforts and develop annual operating plans that fit within the overall mission and strategic objectives of the Association.
  • Develop and direct high-quality relationship-based member engagement strategies.
  • Implement best-practice strategies to gain/maintain competitive advantages, increase membership and program participation, reduce costs, and increase efficiency and quality through the use of benchmarking, forecasting, weekly dashboards, and other performance monitoring techniques.
  • Direct branch marketing and communication efforts in collaboration with the COO and Marketing Team.

Represent and promote YMCA of Greenville's mission and brand to the local community:

  • Serve as a member of the Association's management team and support the overall objectives of the YMCA of Greenville.
  • Communicate the benefits and impact of the Y's work, so we are known as a leading charitable, cause-driven organization.
  • Maintain and build cause-driven programs and services to help the Y create a strong presence in the community.
  • Lead in creating extraordinary experiences for all who come in contact with the Y.

Staff and Operation Oversight:

  • Recruit, supervise, train, and develop staff in partnership with the Association's HR Director.
  • Provide direction that will help your staff confidently and efficiently provide meaningful and impactful customer service as a foundational component of the Y experience for members and participants.
  • Clearly communicate the mission, purpose, goals, and strategies for strong and enthusiastic employee engagement and work closely with them toward goal achievement.
  • Overall management of the facilities including maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of grounds and equipment through oversight of maintenance staff and in cooperation with the Association's Director of Facility Development.

Direct Volunteer and Collaborative Activities/Initiatives:

  • Cultivate relationships within the community to extend the Y's reach and impact.
  • Oversee volunteer opportunities, recruitment, training, and development.
  • Coordinate development of the branch board and committees.

Direct Financial Development:

  • Develop, manage, and monitor $3M operating budget and meet/exceed budget targets in cooperation with the Association's CFO. Annual budget is expected to substantially increase with upcoming capital campaign.
  • Continual evaluation of branch program and membership data and ongoing strategic and innovative efforts for growth and retention in partnership with the COO.
  • Oversee annual giving campaign strategies and initiatives in coordination with the Association's Development Team.
  • Oversee capital development and able to lead the Eastside Y in a major capital campaign effort to rebuild and expand the facility for rapidly growing family market.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Six or more years of demonstrated leadership/management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency with direct supervision of multiple levels of staff
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in preparing and managing a budget
  • Demonstrated ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing, and public relations, and program innovation, development, and quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct financial development, including sustained growth.
  • Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $72,000.00 - $90,000.00
