The Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA is seeking a proven, self-motivated, cause-driven professional to to lead the organization through the continued development of our IT infrastructure and related information systems. The VP of IT provides leadership and business focus to the IT team and will run the organization’s internal IT operation, including the day-to-day IT systems management. This individual will serve as the key interface between technology and the users within the organization. The VP of IT will be responsible for planning, implementing and supporting practical IT solutions for all users and business units ensuring that information technology adds the maximum value to our organization. This position will report othe Chief Financial Officer.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Program Quality & Growth

  • Collaboratively works with CEO, COO, CFO and key stakeholders to develop and implement an IT strategy that aligns and supports the long-term IT needs of the organization.
  • Oversees the technological infrastructure of the organization to ensure optimal performance.
  • Aligns IT infrastructure with business priorities.
  • Develops, monitors and manages department budget to meet or exceed operational and long-term targets; initiates and manages adjustments to the budget to assure balanced operations.
  • Approves purchases of technological equipment and software and establishes partnerships with IT providers and related vendors.
  • Be a business partner, visionary, change agent and take ownership of IT as part of the delivery of IT across all entities, and responsive/flexible as organizational needs change and adapt to industry conditions.
  • Plans the implementation of new systems and provide training and guidance to all users within the organizations
  • Evaluate systems and business needs to recommend suitable technology to advance internal operations through improved efficiencies/effectiveness and better utilization of resources.
  • Develops and builds strong relationships with leadership and stakeholders in the organization.
  • Manages vertically and cross functionally, leveraging leadership relationships to meet established deadlines, IT projects and initiatives.
  • Effectively and regularly communicates with all levels of the business and the IT staff.
  • Assists in the continued implementation and improvement of the application portfolio.
  • Partners, collaborates and engages with leadership/stakeholders on IT initiatives/projects.
  • Provides a 24x7 IT ecosystem and infrastructure that supports operations, ensure robust Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Planning (BCP) capabilities for the organization.
  • Monitors changes/advancements in technology to discover ways the organization can continue to improve operations.
  • Analyzes the cost, value and risks of information technology and makes recommendations to senior leadership with suggested improvements.
  • Works directly with assigned committee(s) of the board as needed, including the Risk Management Committee.

Team Leadership

  • Direct supervision of IT staff.
  • Ensure teams are executing on Association initiatives.
  • Represents the YMCA with key community organizations and events as required.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Eight or more years of substantive experience in IT in a variety of key disciplines, including at least four years’ senior leadership experience with strategic influence and managing multiple projects.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of IT systems and infrastructure, broad-based business and technical acumen in all aspects of IT, exceptional project management skills, strong collaboration skills, proven consulting skills, strong leadership and communication skills and a solid understanding of data analysis and general business operations.
  • Background in designing/developing IT systems and planning IT implementation. Ability to conceptualize, evaluate, promote and deliver IT projects on deadline and on budget.
  • Experience in effectively managing a staff team.
  • Previous experience with SQL, programming, Citrix, and VMWare preferred.
  • Additional technical certifications a strong plus.
  • Previous experience with voluntary/nonprofit organizations is beneficial.

Certifications/Trainings Required:

  • Must obtain within 30 days of employment and then maintain current certifications in CPR, First Aid, AED and Oxygen Administration.
  • Maintain position-specific required certifications as stated in the training matrix.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $100,000.00 - $110,000.00
