Great opportunity with the Tampa YMCA to join this dynamic, $34 million charity. We are seeking a proven, self-motivated, cause-driven professional to join our team. Under the direct supervision of the Center Executive Director, the Senior Program Director will provide direct leadership and oversight to programs including afterschool and camp, youth and adult sports programs, and general Y programs within the center while consistently anticipating and exceeding member expectations. The director will be responsible for delivering youth development services as outlined by the Vice President of Youth Development to include organization-wide standards and consistencies throughout all programs. The Senior Program Director will provide supervision to multiple department staff teams driving superior program quality, increasing program enrollments, and enhancing participant experience specifically in the area of achievement, relationships and belonging. This position ensures that their teams operate efficiently and employs a continuous improvement model to meet and/or exceed goals for participant satisfaction, financial management and overall growth.
Critical areas of expertise include; managing program quality, development and implementation of curriculum programming, staff leadership, proven results in growth in programs, successfully overseeing part-time and entry-level staff teams and interviewing, hiring and onboarding staff members.
Program Quality and Growth:
- Developing and ensuring delivery of curriculum with a focus on the core components established by YUSA.
- Work closely with the assigned schools to create/maintain/improve relations with principals and office staff in order to work together to reach parents.
- Leverages marketing resources and drives frequent/regular community, web and social media communications and engagement.
- Maintain quality and ensure that the needs of the members and the community are met within the Youth Development and Sports departments.
- Responds to member and participant concerns in a timely manner, ensuring a positive program experience for participants, parents and school partners. Anticipate and exceed expectations consistently throughout programs.
- Develop and implement association survey and measurement strategies and action plans - Seer Base Metrics and NPS.
- Leads strategy implementation to achieve strategic plan targets for youth and sports programming.
- Generates and/or analyzes program enrollment, and revenue to monitor and report on achievement of goals.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with schools and community organizations.
- Develops and controls department budgets so that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives.
Team Leadership:
- Partners with Sports Experience Coordinator and key program leaders to hire, develop, motivate and retain a committed team passionate about the YMCA's mission, safety and service to members, and the Tampa Y promise.
- Provides direct supervision to all direct reports and ensures their professional development and success.
- Supervises and leads program teams to create and maintain meaningful and impactful relationships with the families, school administration and staff, and community leaders and members.
- Manages staff schedules and payroll for departments ensuring efficient use of resources occurs within programs at all times.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, county and schoolboard laws and regulations related to payroll, licensing, child labor laws, etc.
- Completes all job related, supervisory and other trainings as required.
Safety and Risk Management:
- Ensures all Tampa Y program standards and best practices are implemented and followed. Applies YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations and child abuse prevention.
- Ensures all program staff are properly trained and prepared for emergency situations. This includes implementing and following training requirements in addition to ensuring proper reporting of all incidents/accidents according to risk management procedures.
- Maintain proper records, including staff member certifications, staff member meetings, and trainings.
- Schedules staff members and volunteers in accordance to safety and program needs and ensures all safety and program ratios are followed.
- Monitors programming to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health & safety regulations.
Required Certifications
- Must complete DCF childcare training within the first 30-days of hire/promotion.
- Florida Director’s Credential preferred. Completion required within 60-days of hire.
- Successful completion of behavioral assessment, background screening and drug test. First Aid, CPR, AED and 02 obtained within first 30 days of employment and then maintained throughout employment.
- This position requires a valid driver license and will require frequent local travel.
- Minimum of four years of experience in camp, afterschool, or similar youth related programs with at least two years of supervisory and payroll management experience required. Prior sports management experience also preferred.
- Proven results in increasing program quality and growth.
