Great opportunity with the Tampa YMCA to join this dynamic, $33 million charity. We are seeking a proven, self-motivated, cause-driven professional to join our team. The Gymnastics Director will implement and oversee all gymnastics related programs for the North Tampa Bob Sierra Family YMCA center. This position will lead gymnastics coaches and instructors in driving safety initiatives, increasing program quality and enrollment and enhancing the overall membership/participant experience. The director will create and implement weekly developmentally appropriate program lesson plans and will develop coaches to deliver this curriculum.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Program Quality and Growth

  • Focus on strategic plan initiatives, best practices and the elevation of gymnastics as a "signature program." 
  • Assist in strategy implementation to achieve strategic plan targets for gymnastics classes and team growth in both registration numbers and revenue targets.
  • Generates and/or analyzes program enrollment and revenue to monitor and report on achievement of goals.
  • Develop and implement association survey and measurement strategies and action plans - Seer Base Metrics and NPS.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.

The Gymnastics Program Director will be responsible for:

  • Managing the day-to-day operations to deliver a high quality program.
  • Working with the coaches to provide weekly developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
  • Maintaining/Managing the program rosters and current skill sheets for each session to include collection of program fees.
  • Planning and delivering quality gymnastics summer, holiday and school break camp programs.
  • Planning and delivering other gymnastics related programs such as cheer and dance.

Safety and Risk Management

  • Ensures all Tampa Y standards and best practices are implemented and followed. Applies YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations and child abuse prevention.
  • Ensures all gymnastics staff members are properly trained and prepared for emergency situations. This includes implementing and following training requirements in addition to ensuring proper reporting of all incidents/accidents according to risk management procedures.
  • Maintain proper records, including staff member certifications, staff member meetings and trainings, and daily logs used for policy and procedure review.
  • Schedules gymnastics staff members in accordance to program needs and ensures all safety and program ratios are followed.
  • Monitors daily gymnastics center operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health & safety regulations. Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of equipment. 
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • USAG Member or equivalent preferred. 
  • Floor routine choreography experience preferred.
  • Experience in coaching and spotting boys and girls ranging in age from 1 to 14 required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of management and coaching experience in gymnastics and/or dance programs. The director will have an extensive gymnastics and dance background, leadership experience, and a passion for teaching.
  • Highly organized with the ability to communicate to participants in a timely manner, ensuring that participants are well informed of important program information.
  • Excellent relationship building skills, communication, organization and the ability to work within specific time constraints. 
  • Proficient in using email, Internet, and other PC-based applications (e.g. Microsoft Office, customer service/tracking applications) with the ability to learn and adapt to new technology.
  • Successful completion of cognitive and behavioral assessments, background screening and drug test. First Aid, CPR, AED and 02 obtained within first 30 days of employment and then maintained throughout employment.
  • This position requires a valid driver license and will require frequent local travel between centers.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $47,476.00 - $50,000.00
