Areas of Responsibility: 

Learning Systems and Curriculum:

  • Plan, direct and implement learning strategies, programs, and processes to support organizational goals, onboarding through retirement.
  • Use data to maximize learner participation, and take a blended approach to learning that incorporates the 70/20/10 model.
  • Regularly analyze training needs and identify new approaches, systems, and curriculum to eliminate gaps and improve the efficiency and success of learning.
  • Create metrics and other tools to measure the effectiveness of learning opportunities, and use to influence the continuous improvement and effectiveness of the Learning and Development department.
  • Evaluate feedback from staff to ensure learning, course materials, and communications are relevant, and effectively communicate the desired message.
  • Plan, organize, and direct a wide range of training initiatives and projects. Including such things as;
    • A comprehensive member service training program.
    • Testing and evaluation procedures.
  • Conduct high-quality effective training to support a variety of organizational initiatives and business needs.
  • Design training manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials.
  • Manage and direct the Training Specialist and Learning Management Systems.

Staff Development:

  • Build career paths for staff, offering a clear picture of growth and development.
  • Develop a mentorship program.
  • Develop and implement a program for recruiting and training well equipped, quality trainers.
  • Provide leadership to Learning and Development Team.

Training Partner Y:

  • Provide direction, oversight, and support to the Training Partner Y Program.

Fiscal Management:

  • Provide direction, oversight, and support to the TPY training budget and meet or exceed budgeted targets.
  • Review and inform branch leadership regarding branch training and conference expenditures.

Financial Development and Philanthropy:

  • Meet performance measurement through annual giving, major gifts, and/or endowment by telling the Y story and raising charitable dollars to fulfill our mission.

Essential Functions:

  • Create and evaluate policies, systems and tools for education, tracking and monitoring of success
  • Supervise and direct the functions of the Learning and Development department
  • Effectively communicate with local and regional YMCAs, and attend Regional Training Events
  • Conduct effective training
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Business or related field, OR equivalent, skills, knowledge and experience.
Skills/Experience: 

This position should have a track record of leading staff and departments to achieve set goals.

  • 3 – 5 years or more of Learning and Development experience.
  • Expertise in developing, planning, implementing and assessing training.
  • Demonstrated experience building strong partnership across organizational lines.
  • Proven experience building curriculum, designing and implementing highly effective, results-driven programs, e-courses and development strategies.
  • Positive attitude and previous experience with diverse populations and learning styles.
  • Excellent coordination, coaching, and facilitation skills.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Salary: $81,894.00
