The Development and Outreach Department of Human Rights Watch ("HRW") is seeking volunteers for the Sydney office. Ideally, volunteers will be available for three months beginning in May 2018, with the possibility to extend. Dates and schedule are flexible. Volunteer positions are unpaid.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Volunteers will primarily contribute to outreach and development initiatives, using database, monitoring press coverage, planning events, using social media to promote events, and conducting background desk research.
  • Other projects may be assigned as they arise and match the volunteer’s interests.
Skills/Experience: 
  • This position is best suited for individuals interested in volunteering in a large, well-organized, international non-profit organization.
  • Applicants should be well-organized, self-motivated and reliable with a strong interest in international human rights.
  • Experience with media, social media, government relations, event planning, and Raiser’s Edge is beneficial. Computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office) are strongly preferred.
