Under the direct supervision of the Program Executive, the Youth Development Director is responsible for the program execution and operation of Pre-School, Before and After School, No School/No Problem, and Summer Camp. The Youth Development Director adheres to all DCFS, federal, state, local, and accreditation standards, as applicable.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Implements high quality and evidence based youth development programs.
- Monitors and manages program implementation of youth development programs.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for schools and parents.
- Identifies potential partnerships and funding streams to support on-site and school based programs
- Develops and manages the budgets for programs in which the position has oversight.
- Works with Development Director to manage grants and ensures all contract deliverable are met and correctly reported.
- Hires, supports, and reviews all program staff.
- Submits staff credentials (education, experience, certifications) when applicable.
- Works with Communication and Marketing Director to promote youth development programs
- Trains staff to ensure that safety procedures are followed and that all programs follow DCFS, YMCA, state, federal, and local standards.
- Provides staff leadership for annual fund-raising campaign and committees as assigned.
- Supports collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Supports member connections through youth development programs.
- Remains current in any applicable certifications and education.
- Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Participates in staff meetings and/or related meetings.
- All other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Three years related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of child care programs, including summer camp.
- DCFS Director requirements,
- Must have proof of completion of 60 semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) of credit from an accredited college or university with 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) related to school age child care, child development, early childhood, elementary education, or other related fields. 3120 clock hours of experience in recreational program or licensed child care center.
- YMCA Team Leadership Certification, preferred.
- At least 21 years or age and/or 5 years older than the oldest child that participates in the program
- Proven leadership skills in performance management, planning, organizing, reporting, and delegating; experienced in needs assessment, program development and implementation, objective setting and effectiveness measurement and sound fiscal management skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively engage a diverse population.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the nature of the YMCA as a membership organization, and have successful experience managing a large membership operation.
- CPR, AED, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) to be maintained once in role
- Effectively represent the Kishwaukee Family YMCA while building positive, constructive relationships with others.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $35,600.00 - $47,500.00
