Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Property and Facilities is responsible for the overall operation of the maintenance department, which includes the maintenance, improvement, and installation of properties, facilities, equipment and vehicles. This position provides leadership to the maintenance and custodial staff of the branch. Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, overseeing and repairs of property, grounds, vehicles, and all equipment, managing all related facility and/or property contracts, parking, budget management, staff management, and quality control (including cleanliness and safety). The position is responsible for coordinating all preventative maintenance, risk management, and OSHA regulations.

The Director of Property and Facilities must possess strong organizational skills, a broad knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, landscaping, and general repairs. The position requires technical knowledge in areas of preventative maintenance, engineering, painting, construction, and maintenance procedures.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provide overall coordination of facility maintenance, including planning and developing preventative maintenance.
  • Ensures proper functioning of heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical systems for the facility and grounds.
  • Maintain the overall appearance and cleanliness of the property and grounds, including general cleanliness, rubbish removal, and facility painting.
  • Repairs, replaces and installs equipment, building and grounds structures; maintains sports fields, lawns, driveways, playgrounds, and camp areas.
  • Assists in outside contractor service agreements; supervises provided services; assures compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Develops, maintains and conducts scheduled safety and security inspections. Work with outside agencies such as fire, health and building departments to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to facilities and grounds. Ensure that all fire and health codes, licenses and permits are up to date.
  • Prepares annual operating and capital budgets for facility buildings, grounds, equipment, and outside contracts agreements.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, supervises and schedules department associates and volunteers.
  • Provides support to other branches requiring general or trade-specific expertise.
  • Serves as Manager on Duty as scheduled.
  • Supports the Annual Campaign.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in facility management or related field or technical/trade school programs and courses and a minimum of 5 years of facility management related experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Working knowledge of, and experience with, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, carpentry fields, and equipment installation and maintenance.
  • Ability to plan, problem-solve, estimate costs, and direct trade-related activities.
  • Experience in recruiting, developing and leading team members.
  • Experience with sports field (baseball, softball and soccer) maintenance preferred.
  • Experience operating a snow plow preferred.
  • Experience with budget preparation, cost estimating, and contract negotiating preferred.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $42,500.00 - $47,500.00
