This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Operations Director at the Pocono Family YMCA serves on the CEO’s senior leadership team and ensures successful operation of the YMCA. The Operations Director is also responsible for helping grown and develop the Pocono Family YMCA’s impact, reputation and operations.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Supervises department directors to assure sound operation principles are in practice.
- Accountable for the financial performances of assigned departments. Monitors monthly financial reports to assure that revenue targets are met and expenses are controlled.
- Partners with the CEO, the board and community to ensure the Y is identifying and meeting community needs effectively.
- Coordinate, monitor and update organizational policies and guidelines.
- Coordinate with Human Resources the training of staff at all levels.
- Ensures the operational growth of the YMCA through program expansion, member recruitment and retention, pricing strategies, new site development, collaborations, and mergers and acquisitions. Guides the organization to make tough choices about what to stop, start, and continue.
- Responsible for member relations, including complaint resolution.
- Represents the CEO in the community as needed.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in human services, business, social services or equivalent; Master’s degree preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Multi- Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.
- Five or more years of professional experience in the YMCA or another nonprofit preferred.
- At least three years’ experience in a supervisory role.
- Knowledge and experience in all aspects of operations, including staff supervision and development, membership practices, program development and implementation, volunteerism, facility and property management and financial practices.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community; track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with others.
- Prior to or within 30 days of hire must complete: Child Abuse Prevention; CPR with AED; First Aid; Bloodborne Pathogens.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00
