The Streator Family YMCA is seeking a mulit-talented candidate to lead Sports, Events and Youth Wellness programming.
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. We are looking for a multi-talented candidate who is responsible for the successful administration and operation of Sports, Events and Youth Wellness. Develops, plans, schedules and manages high-quality programs and activities.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manages, directs and coordinates sports, birthday parties, events, youth wellness, and youth development classes. Ensures high-quality programs and establishes new program activities.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs employees and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Maintains accurate records of staff certifications.
- Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position. Exercises necessary controls to ensure operations are carried out and a balanced fiscal operation exists.
- Develops the operating and program schedule for the gym, multipurpose court and youth action arcade.
- Ensures that YMCA program standards are met, and safety procedures are followed. Monitors daily gymnasium and action arcade activities.
- Ensures proper maintenance of gymnasium equipment.
- Conducts staff trainings for youth sports, birthday party and action arcade staff.
- Develops and maintains relationships with organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations.
- Assists in YMCA activities, fundraisers and special events when needed.
- Maintains proper records and department files.
- Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation ineach program within responsible departments.
- Becomes the lifeguard or manager on duty when needed
- Serves as a member of YMCA management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Skills/Experience:
- YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or the ability to obtain
- Within 30 days of hire completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
- Must be available on nights and weekends.
- Ability to direct assigned operations including supervision and development of staff and volunteers.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to use analytical, interpretative and evaluative thought in making decisions and solving problems
- Experience with diverse populations
- Competency with Microsoft Office software.
