The Board of Directors of the Stevens Point Area YMCA is seeking a mission-focused, financially astute, collaborative leader who embodies the core values of the YMCA. The new CEO will be committed to working at a high strategic level with the Board of Directors and will oversee an annual budget of $4.5M, 350 employees and 400 volunteers.
Strong Fiscal Management Skills accompanied by a Conservative Fiscal Philosophy: Our YMCA is capital debt free and, while we operate with a progressive programmatic style, we understand our strength lies in our ability to be financially sound. Our new CEO must be able to:
- Partner with the Board of Directors to manage the annual budget while accomplishing our stated goals.
- Demonstrate financial expertise necessary to forecast financial trends while leading the organization to balance or surplus operations by growing earned revenue and controlling costs.
- Demonstrate previous successful experience in making sound financial decisions.
- Remain informed on operational issues, with the ability to quickly address any issues that might arise as well as forecast future needs.
- Establish programs as identified in strategic plan that impact community needs and solidify organizational sustainability, leading to superior results in programs, membership, and community engagement.
Fundraising and Strong Donor Relations: Our YMCA is looking for a leader who can continue to strengthen our ability to raise money through a comprehensive approach, which should include:
- Partnering with the United Way, overseeing the annual campaign, procuring grants, estate gifts and capital giving and organizing special events.
- Designing and implementing additional Capital fundraising campaigns to increase our presence in the community.
- Seeing our potential for growth within Portage County and guide our YMCA to potential facility expansion.
Child Care and Camp Experience: Our Child Care and Camp programs are a primary source of income. Our new CEO must:
- Ensure that our Child Care and Camp programs maintain excellence while remaining compliant to all regulations.
- Possess experience in the areas of full-day child care management, camp operations and school age care.
Operations Management Skills: It is imperative that the selected candidate actively participates in day-to-day operations of the Stevens Point Area YMCA.
Strong Community Collaboration: Our YMCA has worked diligently over the years to develop strong, lasting relationships in our community. Going forward, we expect the new CEO will:
- Maintain the strong relationships our YMCA has with our community partners.
- Continue to advance the reputation of the YMCA as a leader in our community.
- Remain visible and active in the development of meaningful community partnerships, positioning our Y as a strong philanthropic partner while maintaining the wants and needs of our community.
Leaderships Skills: Our leader must take a “lead by example” approach, in order to:
- Establish a culture around the core values of trust and commitment to our vision to achieve high quality results.
- Demonstrate leadership skills while creating an energetic, fun work environment to retain employees and volunteers.
Strategic Planning: Our leader must be able to articulate our vision, “to engage our community to live an active, healthy lifestyle that nourishes the spirit of giving back” to staff, volunteers and key stakeholders. Our CEO will also be expected to:
- Continue to address critical needs within the community.
- Show experience in developing and implementing a plan of action to address specific goals around collaboration, removing barriers to participation, future facility growth and other important needs that impact our YMCA and our community.
- Work with the board and the appropriate YMCA staff to develop a plan for successfully executing the identified plan.
Minimum Candidate Criteria:
- Minimum three years prior experience in a senior management role with a YMCA or related experience at a comparable organization with direct supervision of multiple levels of staff and employees.
- Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and personal values consistent with the YMCA mission.
- Must have sound business management skills with a conservative fiscal philosophy.
- Must have the ability to develop and strengthen community relationships.
- Must have the ability to develop new programs, review and enhance programs being offered or considered, for both economy and the effectiveness in broadening our engagement in the communities in which we serve.
Preferred Candidate Criteria:
- YMCA Organizational Leader Certification. If the candidate does not possess this, then he or she must obtain it within three years from the date of hire.
- Strategic planning and fundraising experience including annual and capital campaigns.
- Project management experience with capital projects, including new facility construction and implementation of promotional plans.
- A proven track record of budgetary and fiscal management.
- Individual with a distinguished track record in operational excellence, team leadership and fund development to play a critical role in our community impact.
Salary: $110,000.00 - $125,000.00
