This position is responsible for the organization, delivery, and quality of the Aquatics programs. This includes planning, developing, evaluating, modifying, expanding and supervising all programs and services offered by the Aquatics Department.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Proactively communicate with facility users and program participants on a regular basis. Do this by actively seeking out member concerns, questions, and suggestions, and responding to member needs to the best of your ability.
- Oversee all aspects and functions of the YMCA’s Aquatics Department and ensure the highest quality customer service possible.
- Ensure the safety of the facility patrons and staff. Enforce all of the facility rules, policies, and regulations consistently and correctly and report any unsafe conditions to the Associate Executive Director.
- Responsible for administrative, marketing, and clerical tasks for all competitive swimming programs
- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate staff and volunteers.
- Responsible for staff and volunteer supervision, scheduling, communication, and facilitating meetings and trainings.
- Assist with facility maintenance tasks to ensure the aquatic department meets and exceeds cleanliness standards.
Educational Background:
Degree and/or experience in recreation, physical education, business administration, education or similar field.
Skills/Experience:
- Skills:Teaching or training experience; supervisory experience; administrative skills; proficiency in computer operations, including Outlook, Word and Excel. Experience or training in aquatics, such as lifeguard or swim instruction preferred.
- Physical requirements:Must be comfortable working with staff/members/participants in the water. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
