This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the supervision of the CEO, the Senior Program Director of Youth Development oversees the development and operations of various programs, such as school age child care, teens, day camp, aquatics and/or other programs. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote program growth for the YMCA. Executes strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
  • Develops and controls budgets related to the position. Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected.
  • Uses data to analyze financial trends and forecast future financial progress for the organization.
  • Hires, trains, and supervises full-time and part-time staff and volunteers in assigned areas. Facilitates communication and provides leadership. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Directly manages and coordinates the school age child care programs for assigned location(s). Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities. Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign and volunteer committees/boards as assigned. Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community.
  • Research and write grants to help fiscal sustainability of various programs.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with state child care agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and/or issues in a timely manner.
  • Works Director on Duty shifts as scheduled.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Four or more years of program management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
  • Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fund-raising.
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • YMCA Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required upon 30 days of hire.
