SICIL is seeking an experienced and dedicated advocate to lead an established organization with a team of talented and dedicated staff.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Executive Directors roles and responsibilities include:

* Managing the day to day operational responsibilities as well as overseeing all operations including Human Resources, IT, Administration, Budgeting, and Finance.

* Utilizing knowledge of policy issues affecting individuals with disabilities, as well as representing SICIL, and the community, on local and statewide committees.

* Playing a key role in maintaining and adding to current relationships with other disability advocacy organizations.

Working with the Board of Directors to develop, implement,and monitor the annual budget and all other financial activities of SICIL.

* Engaging with and supporting the Board of Director's in their role to oversee SICIL by effectively communicating and cooperating to allow informed decisions.

* Possessing excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively facilitate public presentations, and proficiently complete written reports.

 

Educational Background: 
M.A in Social Sciences or a related field with at least 3 years of Management experience, preferred.
B.A in Social Sciences or a related field with at least 6 years of Management experience
Skills/Experience: 

EXPERIENCE:

* Experience with managing a staff of at least 10 employees.

* Experience with grant writing and fundraising to increase and diversify SICIL's revenue, preferred.

* Experience designing, creating, and overseeing an operation budget of at least $500,000.00 dollars.

* Experience working with and for a non-profit volunteer Board preferred.

Compensation/Benefits: 

SALARY:

$80,000.00- $90,000.00 annually.

 

COMPENSATION:

* Starting at 4 weeks paid vacation.

* 401-K Plan.

* Health Insurance optional.

 

Additional Information: 

WORK LOCATION:

This position requires working in an office environment Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm.  Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required for outreach and fundraising.

Programs: 

The Staten Island Center for Independent Living is the only comprehensive multi-service provider in the borough that is primarily staffed and governed by individuals who have personal experience with disability. It is the borough's only not-for-profit agency providing services to individuals of all ages and all levels of disability. SICIL provides services to over thirteen hundred consumers annually.

Our organization provides education advocacy, health advocacy, employment advocacy, commerce advocacy, social advocacy and citizenship advocacy. Our efforts have resulted in changes in legislation and policy changes in all of these areas and our advocacy efforts are ongoing.
