Under the direction of the CEO, the Vice President of Advancement oversees and manages the organizations’ fundraising and communication strategy, development and execution, and provides leadership for the development and communications staff. The VP serves as the primary donor relationship manager for the organization overseeing fundraising, communication and donor relations and provides direct supervision to the members of the Development and Marketing & Communications staff. The VP ensures the implementation of an ambitious fundraising strategy while building and maintaining the organization’s donor relationships, identifying, shaping, and implementing comprehensive resource development strategies for PARC. The VP will require knowledge of customer and donor relationship practices; communicating PARC’s mission to donors and donor prospects and have a clear understanding of marketing and messaging strategies, working collaboratively with all staff and volunteers. The VP will develop an external presence within the business and nonprofit community and is responsible for managing a team to support financial development and marketing objectives in order to grow the financial resources and is responsible for overall market analysis, trend analysis, and strategy development and implementation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The VP will be responsible for the comprehensive execution of the capital campaign that is currently in the silent phase and will work closely with the Campaign team in the implementation of the campaign plans approved by the Campaign Steering Committee. The VP will guide and review the campaign process, solicitation strategies, volunteer management and preparation of strategy memos and reviews the current comprehensive marketing plan for the campaign.
The VP manages the development and communications team to support the development and execution of the communications and fundraising strategy to promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
The VP mentors and creates staff development goals, using a supportive and collaborative approach and establishes and monitors staff performance accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, and conduct annual performance appraisals. The VP will ensure dynamic processes in all phases of donor qualification; i.e. (solicitation and stewardship) and Maintain Donor Portfolio of high net worth individuals and secure major capital and planned gifts, as well as endowment support to secure major and planned gifts.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
- 10 years minimum of development and communications experience in progressively responsible leadership positions
- Assures NAEYCE Early Learning Program Accreditation process is supported and the process of application and ultimate accreditation successfully awarded.
- 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing operational and performance outcomes.
- Verified track record of meeting or exceeding measurable fundraising goals in a medium to large nonprofit environment.
- Experience creating budgets and forecasting revenue
- Experience in the use of social media and social networking (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) and technology (i.e. website) to communicate with donors, generate revenue, educate the public and broadcast mission.
- Experience supervising and managing a team with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, delegate responsibility, and inspire, engage and motivate staff.
- This position requires a high degree of organization in the management of a comprehensive capital campaign, as well as keen attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to organize staff and volunteers to perform significant duties are required.
- Must understand and have an appreciation for the mission of serving children and adults with developmental disabilities.
- Deep knowledge of fundraising principles and practices.
- Persuasive communication skills, both written and oral, with a high level of organization and attention to detail.
- High degree of integrity, ethics, dedication, and optimism; commitment to the mission and to maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
