In this role, you’ll create an environment that nurtures learning and developmental growth, using curriculum and activities to prepare students for educational success. You’ll assess the individual needs of each student and help them develop positive values and socialization skills.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provide a quality learning experience to children and parents
  • Design daily lesson and activity plans that are fun, engaging and educational
  • Implement curriculum within the established guidelines
  • Plan, organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music and storytelling
  • Attend to children's basic needs, including supervision of meal and play times
  • Instill YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring
  • Establish and enforce rules that promote positive behavior
  • Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents, conduct parent conferences and engage parents as volunteers
  • Maintain and organize required program records
  • Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings and trainings
Educational Background: 
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Education or a related field, CDA or equivalent, and completion of MODS (Introductory Child Care Training, Parts 1 & 2).
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum six months preschool teaching experience required.
  • Knowledge of outdoor activities and school-based programming is preferred. Must be able to interact for an extended period of time both indoors and outdoors.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $16/hour, plus excellent benefits
