This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the general supervision of the Vice President of Membership, the Senior Director - Group Sales will be the person primarily responsible for achieving organizational revenue goals for all Trout Lodge group sales.  The Senior Director - Group Sales will supervise the Sales staff and the Conference staff at Trout Lodge in Potosi, Missouri.  The position will be based in St. Louis, Missouri at the Association Resource Office. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Strong human relation, problem-solving, multitasking, business development and budget management skills.
  • Lead and supervise all aspects of a group sales including prospecting, solutions and proposal development, familiarization tours, client visits, from first contact to contract negotiations, signing and delivery of group events.
  • nsure contact with all groups at least once a month until their visit, and one week prior to arrival to check on arrangements listed in the contract.
  • Accurately project Trout Lodge group-generated revenue, and provide updates with action items at the weekly directors’ meeting.
  • Schedule personal sales calls, respond to leads and make presentations to prospective groups.
  • Work collaboratively with each department director to determine sales strategy for all programs.
  • Devise and implement sales strategies to meet the revenue goal, and control budget.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of the YMCA of the Ozarks conference facility, front desk, group reservations, food service and program departments as they relate to the guest.
  • Coordinate conference details in a timely manner to appropriate directors and department heads.
  • Provide quality control to the service schedules prepared by group sales staff.
  • Provide excellent customer service to groups and conference leaders.
  • Be sure groups and leaders are informed of any conference details.
  • Assist with any special programming needs
  • Use Association Customer Relationship Management software and Standard Operating Procedures to insure proper pipeline and client management. 
  • Prepare all weekly reports for the Vice President of Membership
  • Be active in sharing of information with Marketing Company for strategies and implementation.
  • Assist with fund raising as assigned.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in hospitality and tourism, sports management, recreation or a related field or relatable experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in hotel group sales, hospitality and tourism, sports management, recreation, or a related field.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Physical Mobility: walking, climbing, stairs, standing, kneeling, bending, leaning, stooping and sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Physical Dexterity: ability to use telephone, computer, electronic equipment, exercise equipment, office equipment (fax, copier, stapler, etc.), tools and machinery as needed.
  • Lifting: ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Sensory Requirements: ability to hear, listen, speak, smell, touch, taste, see and distinguish colors.
  • Ability to maintain alertness for several hours at a time.
  • Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
  • Ability to tolerate extreme temperature conditions (heat and/or cold)
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
