The Gateway Region YMCA has an immediate opening for a Cause-Driven leader to provide leadership to a YMCA branch in the heart of downtown St. Louis in the Mercantile Exchange district.  This is the Gateway Region YMCA’s newest facility with 15,000 square feet.  It includes an 8,000 square foot fitness floor, 2 multipurpose studios, one equipped for hot yoga, and locker rooms with steam room.  We serve over 1,600 full membership units, or over 3,000 people originating from this location.  This Y opened in June of 2017 in a renovated urban mall amongst many other developments for loft and office space and close to the new National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency construction site.  It replaced an old traditional downtown residence facility in operation for 90+ years.  This is a diverse community with wide ranging socio-economic demographics.  This is a wonderful opportunity for a motivated, innovative cause-driven leader to join a growing, mission-based association with an exciting vision for the future.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the District Vice President, the selected candidate oversees the total operation of the Downtown St. Louis at the MX branch, including membership, corporate relationships, marketing, programs, facilities, volunteer and staff development, financial development, community relations and collaborations with community agencies.

Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in exercise science, physiology, psychology, business or other related field or equivalent
Skills/Experience: 
  • YUSA Organizational Leader Status preferred
  • 3 or more years of management experience in a YMCA or other health and wellness agency

Special skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral communication and writing skills
  • Possess a high level of organizational knowledge, experience and proficiency
  • Articulate communication skills relating to branch leadership
  • Ability to successfully lead, recruit and develop staff of all levels
  • Possess and demonstrate commitment and passion for mission-centered objectives
  • Master conflict resolution skills and crisis management proficiencies
  • Demonstrate innovative thinking, program development and change capacity
