This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The incumbent provides direct support to Association employees through staff engagement and leadership development programs. In addition, the incumbent will support the YUSA’s Training Partner Y system for all YMCAs in the states of Illinois and Missouri, and provide services for CEOs and their staff, and plan or deliver training.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Implement programs and initiatives keeping the association’s Leadership Development and staff engagement initiatives relevant and up to date.
- Implement strategies to address culture, staff engagement and staff retention, including project management of initiatives like staff orientation, onboarding and recognition.
- Implement department guides for onboarding and professional development and advancement in a YMCA career.
- Lead committee to plan annual association meetings, retreats and conferences to support the association strategic plan for leadership development and culture
- Support TPY work with Region CEO’s, VPs, CHROs and Executive Directors to schedule, create and promote Regional Training Events that are accessible to all YMCA’s within the TPY region.
- Support Gateway TPY with development, certification and recruitment of certified YUSA trainers & faculty for TPY region
- Support the Association Director in Training Partner Y responsibilities by connecting with YUSA Staff, Missouri State Alliance, Illinois State Alliance, Neighborhoods and YMCA Professional Network (YPN) on all leadership development events and activities for staff and volunteers within the TPY region
- Participate on YUSA Talent and Knowledge Management committees as assigned, including assisting with communication and rollout of new YUSA initiatives and programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s Degree required
Skills/Experience:
- Y-USA Team Leader Certification or significant progress towards certification
- Minimum of 3 years experience in training, talent management and staff development
- Ability to build and lead strong staff and volunteer teams
- Proven ability to work with, guide, mentor and direct individuals of diverse social, cultural and economic backgrounds.
- Proven organizational, clear communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- 20% to 40% travel to other Y associations, YUSA and YMCA training events.
