This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The incumbent coordinates higher level accounting functions Monitoring cash flow, serving as the subject matter expert in the endowment accounting and reporting, assist the Controller in establishing and implementing new accounting standards, assisting the Controller with all the various financial reporting functions, assist the Controller with technical and complex financial analysis projects.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Approves journal entries and reconciliations.
- Provide endowment accounting and reporting for the Association.
- Responsible for the collection of data and reporting for the annual IRS Form 990, and YMCA C-TRAC system
- Provides grant accounting for the Association.
- Serves as a liaison between a district of Branches and the Association Resource Office.
- Assists Controller with the month-end close and year-end close.
- Responsible for yearly United Way financial reporting, budget, and proposal submission.
- Completes the Schedule of Functional Expense and Net Assets Released on an annual basis.
- Responsible for partnerships and partnership reporting.
- Prepare routine and ad hoc financial reports and financial analyses using SG&A (enterprise financial system), Association membership database and fundraising system, Excel and other tools.
- Reconciles bank statements and writes up journal entries.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting.
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum five years’ experience.
- Certified public accountant required
- Expertise in general ledger and accounting functions.
- Expertise in FASB pronouncements and implementing them in internal controls and policies.
- Excellent Technical accounting Skills
- Knowledge of and expertise with computerized accounting systems and sound working knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Must be highly organized and have the ability to work with confidential matters.
