Teach For America St. Louis seeks an Associate, Network Communications and Operations to execute the region’s communications plan, manage regional events and general operations, and support alumni initiatives. This role will serve as the region’s primary storyteller, compelling internal and external constituents to champion our work. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, excels at translating their passion for our mission into written communications that compel diverse stakeholders, and enjoys creating and executing project plans to manage small and medium-sized events. The Associate, Network Communications and Operations will need to enthusiastically develop rapport with team members across functional teams as they will be responsible for investing teammates in regional communications and operations. 

Areas of Responsibility: 

Network Communications (40%)

  • Draft, review and copy-edit internal and external communications, media, videos, etc. aligned to the TFA St. Louis brand, that enable the organization to tell its story and elevate its profile to diverse stakeholders
  • Execute regional social media strategy to maintain and expand social media presence to help drive regional and network leadership team goals
  • Support Executive Director, Chief of Staff and other team leads to gather, curate and draft content for internal and external email blasts
  • Create a strategic email blast calendar and send alumni, corps member and other email blasts on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Support Executive Director, Chief of Staff and other team leads in gathering and analyzing communication data including readership, engagement rate, etc. to inform regional communications strategic planning
  • Liaise with national communications team to source stories for local media that contribute to our narrative and build stewardship across the region

Network Operations and Event Planning (25%)

  • Plan, manage and execute high impact alumni-facing and regional team events and meetings, ensuring high levels of stakeholder attendance and engagement
  • Act as the main point of contact for staff and stakeholder survey administration and completion, including Great Places To Work, regional Pulse Check Surveys, and Corps Member and Alumni Surveys
  • Support the Network Leadership team in analyzing key survey findings to make data-driven decisions on strategic priorities to drive organizational goals
  • Manage data for the Network Leadership team, including updating alumni data and helping build reports and dashboards for team-wide analysis and reporting purposes

Alumni Leadership Support (25%)

  • In conjunction with the Director, Alumni Leadership and Community and Network Leadership Team, support alumni leadership initiatives, including a goal of growing and mobilizing a 550+ person alumni network in St. Louis
  • Meet with a subset of alumni to understand their leadership pathways and connect them with opportunities in the St. Louis region
  • Work with alumni-led affinity groups to identify ways to support and engage alumni across stakeholder groups
  • Create a plan and manage the execution of an ongoing alumni sector dinner initiative
  • Network with local organizations and community leaders

Regional Priorities (10%)

  • Support broader regional and organizational priorities including selecting new corps members, recruitment, confirmation, matriculation, and other regional initiatives
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and retreats
  • Attend regional events, including corps member trainings, induction and orientation
  • Other duties as assigned
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2+ years of professional experience, preferably in communications

Work Demands

  • Some evening and weekend work required
  • Ability to travel and work in the Regional Teach For America office on a daily basis
  • Ability to travel to in-person meetings across the St. Louis region
  • Some travel required for conferences or trainings (2-3 times per year)
