General Summary
The Vice President of Programs for the Greater Missouri Chapter provides leadership and strategic direction for the development, implementation and evaluation of quality Alzheimer's Association programs and services in the chapter territory. Measureable outcomes include increased utilization of Chapter services, increased referrals from healthcare, consistently high quality delivery of service, increased chapter engagement in research participation, volunteerism and diverse communities.
This position is based in the chapter office in St. Louis, MO with frequent travel within the Chapter's territory and reports to the Regional Leader.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Essential Job Functions
Strategic Leadership (60%)
- Leads the chapter in establishing strategic initiatives, tactics and measures that move chapter toward 10-year vision of serving 80% of people with dementia.
- Serves as a thought leader within the Region and the national network and provides clear communication of vision, mission, and best practices.
- Oversees the development of a department plan to expand program reach with special attention to increasing participation among minority, high risk and underserved populations. Provides leadership for the delivery of all programs and services including planning, budgeting, program evaluation and adherence to National program standards and reporting processes.
- Creates and manages departmental budget; secures grant funding to grow support of programs and provides leadership to assure grant outcomes are achieved
- Assures at least 90% client satisfaction in program delivery
- Supervises Directors and Managers for Client Services, Community Programs, Healthcare Outreach, Volunteer Services and Inclusion to expand service delivery in 96 county area, especially among minority, high risk and underserved populations.
- Provides leadership to key volunteer-powered, Board-accountable committees including Care & Support Committee, Diversity & Inclusion Committee and Medical & Research Committees.
Partnership & Resource Development (30%)
- Develops new, sustainable community partnerships that advance the chapter mission, expand program reach and increase program delivery as per Strategic Plan goals.
- Builds strategic partnerships with community organizations, academic, public and private sector to advance the chapter mission and serve more clients across the territory.
- Creates a moves management process to develop relationships into partnerships supporting the full Alzheimer's Association mission.
- Drafts and presents funding proposals to private and major donors.
- Secures grants and maintains relationships with key funders like United Way.
General chapter responsibilities (10%)
- Cultivates and recruits supporters for chapter fundraising events like Walk to End Alzheimer's and Longest Day. Generates leads for Development team.
- Maintains National reports, service statistics and grant-related paperwork.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Health Care Management or related field required; Master's preferred
- 7+ years' progressive experience with program delivery / development / management
- 5+ years' experience managing staff & volunteers
- Demonstrated history of clinical services delivery, quality program evaluation, strong public speaking skills and an understanding of volunteer management
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with, present to, and engage diverse audiences
- Demonstrated success leading a high performing team to achieve strategic initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to seek opportunities for different and innovative approaches to addressing or solving problems and opportunities; facilitating the implementation and acceptance of change within the workplace
- Proven success building strong external & internal partnerships and increasing services to communities that have had low participation
- Excellent training and presentations skills including the ability to engage audiences with credibility
- Demonstrated success working with diverse populations, volunteers, staff to build and maintain successful teams
- Superior ability to confidently communicate in person, print, and electronically to variable audiences
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects at once
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (especially Word & Excel) and Google; ability to learn constituent relationship management databases
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, diplomacy and initiative
- Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed for the job
- Ability and willingness to travel within the Chapter's 96-county area (up to 25%) by car
- Must possess valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance
