The Gateway Region YMCA is seeking a cause driven leader for the Health & Wellness Director position at our Carondelet Park Rec YMCA.
Under the direction of the Executive Director this position’s primary responsibility is for the fitness, group exercise and wellness programming & staffing of these areas at the branch. They will coordinate assigned programs and supervises staff in specified areas (wellness, fitness, active older adults, strength training, youth fitness, etc.). He/she oversees both departments and leads the staff to provide a sustainable level of excellence in character, customer service and execution of job duties. Ensures that programs operate in a quality manner consistent with YMCA guidelines. The Health and Wellness Director acts as a liaison and advocate for Activate America and understands the Health Seeker target market while putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. Education:
College Degree in exercise science/physiology or related field preferred and/or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- Minimum 2 year of experience in supervising staff in the health and wellness industry.
- Minimum 2 year of experience developing exercise prescriptions/exercise programming and/or group exercise instruction
Special skills, Licenses, Certifications or Equipment:
- Currently personal trainer and/or group exercise certified with a national organization that tests both theoretical knowledge and performance, such as A.C.E., A.C.S.M., and N.S.C.A.
- Currently certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (C.P.R.), A.E.D. and First Aid.
