This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The Branch Operations Director is responsible for member services including child care and facility operations, membership development, customer relations management, and youth sports including the achievement of all program department goals, and business functions within this area of assigned responsibility.
Areas of Responsibility:
Staff Supervision
- Select and develop competent, knowledgeable and motivated personnel in order to build a strong staff team.
- Recruit, interview, hire, supervise, and evaluate highly motivated staff and volunteers as part of membership development process
- Responsible for all Program Leaders within assigned areas of responsibilities including child care programming, branch maintenance and facilities, membership, and sports.
Membership Development and Member Services
- Develop, implement, and manage all membership recruitment efforts including internal promotions, advertising, media, cross-promotions, with established goals and tracking.
- Establish positive, result-oriented relationships with area businesses, corporations, and organizations.
- Develop and/or coordinate events, presentations, seminars, and membership promotions in local area.
- Manage front desk supervisor and staff to insure staff is well informed, providing quality service and meeting the YMCA standards.
Program Development
- Assure all programs meet all standards and guidelines as set forth by the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit.
- Enhance licensed child care and school age child care programs based on YMCA and State guidelines.
- Creation and development of youth and adult sports programs that meet annual goals.
Facility Management
- Oversee branch and facility maintenance program.
Community Leadership
- Work closely with community leaders to identify possible alliances and/or opportunities for greater service to the community.
- Create more opportunities for the community and families to increase involvement with the YMCA.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in human services, recreation, business or a related field, or equivalent, preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Three to five years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
- Must have successful track record of financial performance results, volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, and program development.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certifications may be required.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00
