The Ozarks Regional YMCA, located in Springfield, Missouri, is seeking a visionary leader who is skilled in communicating the mission, goals, and values of the YMCA within our communities and beyond, to broaden the reach and impact of the Y. In anticipation of the pending retirement of the current CEO, the Board of Directors has begun the search for a strong leader who is committed to our region and to our YMCA values.
The successful candidate must be a skilled advocate for the Y and have demonstrated abilities in community relationships, strategic planning, staff development and team building, operating performance, and fundraising. The CEO must have the capacity to understand and embrace the specific culture of the Ozarks area.
The Ozarks Regional YMCA is the third largest YMCA in Missouri, with a $10 million annual operating budget. Headquartered in Springfield, the Y serves an eight-county area, with ten operating units serving over 53,000 individuals and families through programs and membership throughout the greater Southwest Ozarks Missouri area.
Branches located in Monett, Cassville, Bolivar, Buffalo, Hollister, and Lebanon enable this Y to serve a wide geographic area. Two Y branches are located in Springfield, Pat Jones and G. Pearson Ward. In addition, Camp Wakonda is a full-service residence camp for the Ozarks area. The Y’s reach also includes School Age Services operations in thirty-one sites in the Springfield area.
Over the past six years, the Y has solidified its operating finances by decreasing the operating deficit and running an operating surplus. While it has achieved a balanced operating budget, it also has some accumulated debt that challenges two of the operating units.
The volunteer leadership consists of an Association Board and individual branch boards. The Y’s volunteer leadership base is committed to a strong YMCA impact in all of the communities it serves.
Springfield is the home of Missouri State University, Drury University, Evangel College, Ozarks Technical Community College, and other higher education institutions. The great health care provided by CoxHealth and Mercy Hospitals contributes to the high quality of life enjoyed by the community. These aspects of Springfield and the surrounding communities served by the YMCA work together to create an unparalleled place to live and raise a family.
