Associate Youth Development Director - Downtown

Under the supervision of the Association Director of Youth Development, the Associate Director supports the development, organization and implementation of high quality YMCA programs focusing on before & after school, school days out programming, summer camp, and innovative youth development of programs.  The incumbent understands character development to be the guiding principle of the YMCA and personally exhibits a commitment to that goal in all YMCA operations.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Overarching Goal:  Through their planning, actions and daily work creates and fosters an environment for all staff to effectively create positive, nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with parent/caregivers while promoting and supporting the potential of all youth in the program and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of their YMCA experience.

  • Support program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
  • Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with YMCA values.
  • Assist in the recruitment, hiring, training, development, scheduling and direction of personnel and volunteers as needed.  Assist in reviewing and evaluating staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  •  Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information, program schedules and registrations.
  • Maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring program budgets to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Coordinate use of facilities for program activities and events.
  • Assist in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
  • Model relationship-building skills in all interactions. Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  • Monitor payroll for all direct reports.
  • Compile program statistics. Monitor and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.

PROGRAM SPECIFIC DUTIES

School Age Care

  • Develop, implement, evaluate and manage day to day operations ensuring the safety and well-being of all children in the Riverton, Rochester and Sherman School Age programs.
  • Supervise of site coordinators and staff, serving as site coordinate as needed.
  • Assist coordinators in program development, staffing issues, revenue collection and expenditures and other administrative tasks.
  • Ensure IDHS, CCP and DCFS processes and procedures are followed according to established guidelines.
  • Report maintenance issues at sites and ensure facility readiness.
  • Supply weekly reports of parent or third-party payment received.
  • Oversee reconciliation of site payment logs, billing software, weekly billings and payment drafts in cooperation with Program Account as needed.
  • Maintain and supply attendance records as applicable for reimbursement from 3rd party payors.
  • Provide Branch Director with all incident reports according to association guidelines. 

Branch Youth Programing Classes

  • Create schedules and classes, oversees lesson plans.
  • Monitor operations to adhere to YMCA and IDHS health and safety regulations.
  • Support the purchases and maintains supplies.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of records including program evaluations and sign in sheets.
  • Manage Schools Day Out, Parent Night Out and Arts & Humanities Programs.

Rochester Summer Camps

  • Oversee day to day operations ensuring the safety and well-being of all children in the program
  • Manage the programming and purchasing of supplies.
  • Hire and train staff.
  • Monitors operations to adhere to YMCA and IDHS health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure Community Connection Point and DCFS processes and procedures are followed according to established guidelines.
  • Report maintenance issues to ensure facility readiness.
  • Work with Program Accounting Assistant to monitor weekly billings and monthly bank draft for all outstanding or scheduled payments.
  • Maintain and supply attendance records as applicable for reimbursement from 3rd party payors.
  • Provide Association Director with all incident reports.

Youth Development Billing

  • Work collaboratively with Program Accounting Assistant to ensure billings are timely and accurate.
  • Assist in serving SAC family billing inquiries.
  • Serve as backup for Program Accounting Assistant.

Youth Development Department Initiatives and Programs

  • Assist Association Development Director working as a member of the Youth Development Management team as assigned or needed.  These are some of those initiatives and programs.
  •  Department Operations
  •  Budgeting and financial analysis, cost controls
  •  Policies and Procedures
  •  Annual Operation Plan
  •  Events and Grant Programs
  •  Assists in the organization and program activities/events.
  •  Recruits and coordinates volunteers from the local community.
  •  Secures facilities for program activities and events.
  •  Report results to collaborative agencies as needed.
  •  Arts & Humanities Programs and Activities
  •  Assist in development and implementation as needed
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum two years’ experience working with youth
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Previous camp experience preferred
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $28,000.00 - $35,000.00
