The Southington- Cheshire Community YMCAs is seeking an experienced leader to join our team as the Branch Executive Director of our Southington Community YMCA.   The Branch Executive Director will manage our existing 90,000 square foot facilities and ensure the delivery of high quality programs and services to over 9,600 members annually.   

The overall operation of the Southington Branch includes 500+ employees, 4732 member units and a budget of $8.2 million. It is a full service health and wellness facility including a 6 lane, 25yd. swimming pool, gym, cardio center plus weight training room, group cycling studio, aerobics studio, 2 racquetball courts, Amazing Kids Club room, Spirit Mind Body Center, Sports Performance Center, 5,000 sq. ft. Gymnastics Center, separate learning center and much more.  The branch also uses 7 local schools for school age childcare, and offers outreach programs in several at risk neighborhoods.

The Branch offers a full spectrum of programs, including healthy lifestyles programs, early childhood classes, after-school programs, instructional classes, and active senior programs.

This position will continue to develop and strengthen strategies, relationships and partnerships, with donors, community leaders, elected officials and school districts.  Qualified applicants must have experience with Board and community development, fund development campaigns, strategic planning, staff leadership/development plus a proven record of successful fiscal management.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Provide leadership, supervision and accountability for management functions at the Southington Branch, including membership, childcare, aquatics, health and wellness, special events, and other related program areas.  Uphold and promote the YMCA philosophy and values.

  • Manage and provide leadership to the day to day operations of the Southington Branch
  • Oversee the following departments and directors: membership, child care, health & wellness and aquatics
  • Work with Membership Director on recruitment, retention and growth strategies for membership
  • Work with the Child Care team to ensure state compliance and high levels of programs and services
  • Drive the implementation of new programs that meet changing community needs in Southington
  • Work with CFO and departmental directors on budgetary responsibilities and analyze monthly reports
  • Work with CEO, Operations Director and departmental directors on development of capital projects/budgets
  • Complete operational plan objectives for the branch and set annual objectives for direct reports
  • Provide leadership to the Annual Support Campaign in conjunction with the Development Director
  • Plan and facilitate annual staff forwards/retreats for Southington and Association staff teams
  • Act as a member association leadership team and provide leadership on decisions projects or initiatives
Educational Background: 
The qualified candidate should possess a four-year college degree in a related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5 years of upper management experience
  • YMCA Multi-team Leader or Organization Leader certification preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience leading teams of staff and volunteers
  • Proven results in membership recruitment, retention and growth
  • Program management and evaluation experience
  • Budgetary experience of running departments or branches of $4million or more
  • Able to build community relationships and collaborations
  • Experience with fundraising, annual campaigns and capital campaigns
  • Preferred candidates would reside in or within close proximity to Southington
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $86,000.00 - $91,000.00
