To further the mission of the YMCA through the planning and delivery of youth and family activities and events. Ultimately design and sustain programs that positively impact the lives of children and their families in the community in which we live.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Design and deliver program activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the members’ age and abilities.
- Ensure that staff are knowledgeable and follow safety and educational procedures during programs activities by providing proper orientations and training of these procedures.
- Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in all program areas by overseeing daily checks of area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair.
- Develop and implement schedules as well as maintain records for all areas of youth and family program and facilities through development and supervision of staff schedules and program activity schedules.
- Lead enthusiastically, providing support and guidance to staff by providing them with individual goals and offer feedback.
- Prepare and grow departmental budgets on a yearly basis.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Foster interdepartmental communication and collaboration; consistently striving towards improving vertical and horizontal aspects of communication.
- Leads community initiatives by partnering with key local businesses to foster a successful relationship with the YMCA.
- Supports Philanthropy department’s goals for Youth Development with positive communication and organizing conversations and events that develop relationships with key donors.
- Reinforce the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibilities of the staff.
- Able to communicate to others how the YMCA supports kids, adults, and families in the community.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred in a relevant field or 5+ years of relevant work experience.
Skills/Experience:
- Ability to organize, schedule and manage multiple programs and events.
- Demonstrate the ability to develop and strengthen relationships with staff and ability to motivate and engage workforce.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- CPR/AED & First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, Lifeguard preferred, required within 90 days of hire.
- Understands the Mission of the YMCA.
- Three or more years of supervisory experience required, including progressive staff leadership responsibilities and budget responsibility.
- Three or more years’ experience managing and monitoring a department budget.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $36,645.00 - $45,806.00
