This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high quality, member-focused YMCA aquatic programs.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations to showcase our Aquatics programs.
- Design and deliver aquatic program activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the members’ age and abilities.
- Ensure that staff are knowledgeable and follow safety and educational procedures during programs activities by providing proper orientations and training of these procedures.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
- Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR training to continually keep standards at a high level.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Foster interdepartmental communication and collaboration; consistently striving towards improving vertical and horizontal aspects of communication.
- Reinforce the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibilities with the staff.
- Able to communicate to others how the YMCA supports kids, adults, and families in the community.
Skills/Experience:
- Three or more years of supervisory experience required, including progressive staff leadership responsibilities.
- Three or more years' experience managing and monitoring a department budget.
- Demonstrate the ability to develop and strengthen relationships with staff and ability to motivate and engage the workforce.
- Ability to organize, schedule and manage multiple programs and events.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- CPO Certification, American Red Cross Instructor Certification: First Aid and Oxygen Administration and Lifeguard Instructor Certification preferred.
- Understands the mission of the YMCA.
