To further the mission of the YMCA by directing all aspects of membership for the Association including recruitment of new members, retention of existing members and supervision of assigned staff. Develops, plans and implements new procedures and methods to achieve strategic goals.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Implements membership strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of existing members. Promotes program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members.
- Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
- Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget for membership and takes appropriate action to correct variances.
- Foster interdepartmental communication and collaboration; consistently striving towards improving vertical and horizontal aspects of communication.
- Assists with organization and implementation of membership events at the YMCA.
- Leads assigned aspects of the fund-raising campaign.
- Responsible for monthly reports in billing to keep Accounts Receivables inline, while managing Corporate billing and other like functions. Coordinates with the business office as necessary on financial transactions.
- Ensures safety and security of the building and members by following current policies.
- Leads membership department in creating community partners to broaden the Y’s base in the area.
- Able to communicate to others how the YMCA supports kids, adults and families in the community.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or 5 years of relevant work experience.
Skills/Experience:
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community; track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with others.
- Demonstrated results in member recruitment and retention strategies.
- Three or more years of supervisory experience required, managing and monitoring a department budget.
- Three or more years’ experience in all aspects of sales operations; retail experience, preferred.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $33,997.00 - $38,450.00
