Somerset County YMCA currently seeks a dynamic, take-charge person with a solid wellness/fitness background to provide strategic direction and leadership to our wellness programming at our recently remodeled wellness center at our Somerville, NJ Branch.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Under the direction of the Branch Executive Director, the Wellness Director is responsible for the development and management of all day-to-day Wellness Center operations and programming to include oversight of all personal training, group exercise and floor supervisor staff.
- The Wellness Director also develops, plans, and implements new procedures and methods to achieve strategic goals in support of our specialized programming to include chronic disease prevention, LIVESTRONG and other programming.
Educational Background:
You should have a BS/BA degree in Business, Exercise Science or related field or its equivalent in experience.
Skills/Experience:
- Must possess superior leadership and interpersonal skills to interact with membership and a proven track record in leading teams and holding staff accountable.
- You should have 3-5 years of working experience in fitness or related area and possess knowledge of Exercise Physiology, Strength Training Principles and Technique, Exercise for Older Adults and Customer Service.
- Supervisory experience is a must.
- Must have entrepreneur's attitude and skills and the ability to work flexible schedules to include evenings and weekends.
- Proven ability to develop and monitor budgets, develop programs, fund raise and establish and maintain collaboration with community organizations.
- Must have nationally recognized Personal Training Certification (AFFA, ACE, ACSM preferred)
- Must have nationally recognized Group Exercise Certification
- You should be able to administer fitness assessments and design fitness and group exercise programs.
