Somerset County YMCA is currently seeking a dynamic Membership Director to provide leadership and ensure exemplary member service and member satisfaction at our Somerville and Bridgewater branches. This is an excellent opportunity to join the management team of our growing locations in central New Jersey serving approximately 4,800 members.

Under the direction of the Branch Executive, the Membership Director is responsible for all Welcome Center operations including managing 25-30 Welcome Center staff and Managers on Duty (MOD’s), creating and managing the membership budget, fundraising for the branches annual campaign and developing initiatives, trainings and activities to support the membership function. S/he takes a leading role in building relationships with members and program participants, ensures cause-driven tours and participates in the implementation of the Y Membership Cohort. Ensures effective and positive customer service in both branches at all times in support of building capacity to strengthen youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field. Must have a minimum of 2-5 years of experience as a supervisor preferably in a direct consumer to customer service environment with demonstrated proficiency in problem resolution. S/he has strong public relations and interpersonal skills along with the ability to communicate with people on all levels. Proven ability to develop and maintain effective customer relations. Possesses the ability to lead and direct a team of staff towards a common goal. Must be able to work some weekends, early mornings and/or evenings. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is required. Experience with database systems such as Daxko a plus. Exceptional verbal and written communication and critical thinking skills are essential.
