An exciting opportunity to join Somerset County YMCA, a growing $21 million dollar organization with five branches, 100 full-time and 950 part-time employees. Somerset County YMCA is undergoing an $11 million dollar capital reinvestment project across multiple branches, while exploring new growth opportunities and sustaining the needs of our existing 26,000 members across the county. 

Somerset County YMCA is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, experienced and proven cause-driven leader for a great career opportunity to provide direct leadership to our Hillsborough Branch. The Hillsborough YMCA branch serves over 4,000 members with an operating budget of $3.5 million and 7 full-time and approximately 250 part-time and seasonal employees. The branch has a 45,000 square foot full-facility which includes a lap pool plus a therapy pool, fitness center, group exercise studios, a gymnasium, and an early childhood education and child care center. As part of a capital improvement plan, this facility will be undergoing a renovation to be completed in 2020. The branch also offers enrichment classes for kids, exercise programs for seniors, a dynamic summer camp program and more. 

Under the direction of the COO, the Branch Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations and programs of the Hillsborough YMCA branch.  This position provides cause-driven leadership in staff supervision, volunteer development, fiscal management, financial development, membership and program administration, facility and equipment stewardship, community relations and personal-professional development. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Coordinates the development of the branch board.  
  • Directs the financial development activities of the branch.
  • Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local communities and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in the service delivery area.
  • Oversees the hiring, training, development and supervision of staff.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors branch operating budgets and meet or exceeds budget targets.
  • Directs the branch’s strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch.
  • Develops and directs high quality relationship-based member engagement strategies. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
  • Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
  • Ensures the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
  • Directs branch marketing and communication efforts to effectively communicate benefit to the community.
  • Serves as a member of Y executive management team and supports the overall objectives of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Six or more years of management experience overseeing multiple program areas and membership, preferably in a YMCA or other comparable (member and program based) non-profit.
  • Proven ability to direct total operations through board and volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
  • Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • Must possess YMCA Multi Team Leader certification. Organizational Leader certification preferred
