The HR Director will be responsible for applying business knowledge and human resources expertise.  This position will oversee all aspects of the HR function to include recruitment and onboarding, payroll, terminations, performance management, employee relations and HR best practices, while facilitating a positive relationship for all employees.  

  • Must have sufficient knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, recruitment, employee relations, and employee development.
  • Experience in the administration of benefits and other human resources programs and processes.
  • Clear and concise written and spoken communication skills. 
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong customer service skills, strong computer skills
  • Payroll software experience  
Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Oversees the implementation and administration of human resources programs and procedures for all employees; identifies opportunities for improvement and resolves problems.
  • Provides advice and service to management on employee relations and performance management concerns; determines and recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship; promotes a high level of employee morale and motivation; conducts investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth.
  • Manages recruitment activities to include assistance with creation of job descriptions, posting positions, training managers on the interview process, conducting background checks, and performing new hire orientations.
  • Manages the maintenance of all Human Resources Information Systems to include payroll, applicant tracking, retirement, etc.; compiles reports as needed.
  • Monitors the performance appraisal process; provides guidance to managers on the process. 
  • Acts as benefits administrator to include timely enrollment of new employees and status changes; coordinates the annual enrollment process, reviews and submits benefit invoices for payment; serves as the primary contact for any benefit-related questions.
  • Coordinates exit interview process for HR department and applicable supervisors.
  • Facilitates bi-weekly payroll; handles garnishments, vacation time, insurance and retirement deductions; serves as the primary contact in the research and resolution of payroll problems; processes bi-weekly transfer of payroll data to third party payroll vendor and retirement; updates general ledger.
  • Leads company compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements including any related to EEO, ADA, FMLA, ERISA, Department of Labor, Worker’s Compensation, OSHA, etc. 
  • Maintains applicant and employee files, and follows retention guidelines.
  • Attends appropriate YMCA meetings, association committees and community functions.
  • The Human Resources Manager assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the CEO.
