As the youth program director, you will build relationships, instill confidence, and provide opportunities for growth and improvement by planning, coordinating and implementing youth programs, day camp, and special events open to all members. Through your leadership, instruction, and motivation you will ensure members experience high-quality youth programs that build strong youth and families.
In this position, you will be responsible for assisting in the planning of curriculum and coordinating class schedules with other staff and programs to enhance participation levels and meet the goals and objectives of the youth department. You will also assist the staff leadership team in reaching Annual Campaign goals through annual giving, major gifts, and/or endowment by telling the Y story and raising charitable dollars to fulfill the mission.

Create and manage programs:
- Establish new program activities and expand programs within the community in alignment with our strategic and operating plans.
- Manage and implement the approved program budget.
- Compile program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in all programs.
Day Camp:
- Design, implement, and evaluate day camp programs, activities, and events.
- May develop or assist in the marketing and distribution of program information, organize and schedule program registrations.
- Work with Day Camp Cabinet, Senior Director, and Camp Directors to organize and implement overall specialty camp programs.
- Coordinate delivery, model, and ensure quality of camp activities including Unit Games and Evening programs, Theme Days, and other all-camp events.
- Direct and supervise program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
- Coordinate with Program Areas, Lunch Service, Facilities, and all staff as appropriate.
- Be visible and around camp during transition times to assist where needed.
- Develop a system for communicating with campers and receiving camper feedback regarding how their leaders are doing – ensure a quality camper experience.
- Add creativity and variety to the camp program with the help of the Senior Director and Day Camp staff.
- Assist in compiling program statistics. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program.
- Provide a clean and well-maintained program area.
Provide quality results:
- Administer program evaluations of all classes and leagues.
- Develop and assist in the marketing and distribution of program information, and organize and schedule program registrations.
- Meet performance measurements in annual giving, major gifts, and/or endowment by telling the Y story and raising charitable dollars to fulfill our mission.
Collaborate:
- Develop relationships with local school districts and community leaders to ensure available programming space and facilities, and to assist in sponsoring youth programs/events.
- Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Work in collaboration with senior management to review and evaluate staff performance.
Build Relationships:
- Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct staff and volunteers as needed.
- Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Support development and implementation of program-specific volunteer training program. Assist staff in identifying productive and creative volunteer roles.
- I have experience in supervision, fiscal management, program development, staff and volunteer development.
- I have experience in planning, organizing, and implementing age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
- I have demonstrated skills in customer service, public relations, organizational skills, communications, supervision, computer knowledge, and file maintenance.
- I have current Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid, and Oxygen certifications.
