The Healthy Living Director is responsible for the operation of the Wellness Department including all related areas, programs, and age groups. This person will ensure that helping people achieve healthy lifestyles is a top priority by organizing high quality YMCA wellnes programs, group exercise classes and developing member-focused wellness staff.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop, implement, promote, administer and evaluate all healthy living programs, complying with all YMCA standards and safety procedures.
- Hires, trains and supervises staff and volunteers for all healthy living programs.Develops, manages, and monitors healthy living department budget.
- Assesses and recommends budgeting for facility and equipment needs.
- Develops, produces and disseminates appropriate program information in order to promote healthy living programs to the public and to current members.
- Keeps records essential for control, evaluation and reporting to Management Staff, Board of Directors, Committees, or Task Forces.
- Ensures that program areas, equipment and supplies are maintained in an orderly and safe manner.
- Remain current on trends and serving as the expert for the YMCA in topics related to healthy living programs by attending workshops/seminars/YMCA trainings, reading healthy living publications.
- Complete all other projects as assigned by the Membership and Program Experince Director.
- Represent the Y and maintain good relationships with other organizations in the community.
- Attends and participates in appropriate Board of Directors, Task Force, or Committee meetings as assigned.
- Support the interest of the YMCA as defined by the Board of Directors, Management staff and the strategic plans of the organization.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in Health Management, Physical Education,Recreation or related field.
Skills/Experience:
- Knowledge and/or experience in developing, organizing, and implementing health and wellness programs.
- Ability to relate effectively to a diverse group of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Completion of Child Abuse Prevention program and CPR/First Aid/AED within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to instruct and/or lead a variety of health and wellness related programs and activities.
- Strong organizational, budgetary, computer, written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $30,000.00 - $34,000.00
