This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community, as well as develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA aquatic programs for the children and families we serve.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops and schedules aquatic staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Assists in the development of and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Assists in the coordination of facility usage for program activities and events.
  • Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
  • Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
  • Conducts WSI, lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings as needed.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum age of 21 
  • Current YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguarding or within 60 days of hire
  • Current YMCA or American Red Cross Swim Instructor Certifications or within 60 days of hire
  • Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer with AED Certifications or within 60 days of hire
  • Current Basic First Aid Certifications or within 60 days of hire
  • YMCA or American Red Cross Swim Instructor Trainer within 1 year of hire
  • YMCA Pool Operator on Location or CPO within 1 year of hire
  • Oxygen Administration certification within 30 days of employment
  • Online Child Abuse Prevention within 30 days of employment
  • Online Bloodborne Pathogens Training within 60 days of employment
  • Online Safe Lifting and Slips, Trips and Falls Training within 90 days of employment
  • The Community YMCA New Team Member Orientation within 90 days of employment
  • Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
  • Valid NJ Driver’s License, acceptable driving record, and valid NJ Motor Vehicle Insurance 
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $40,000.00
