The Seattle Y has an opening for a Branch Executive at our Dale Turner Family YMCA branch, in Shoreline, Washington. As a part of our leadership team, the Branch Executive will play an integral role in defining, developing, and executing strategic and tactical direction to achieve branch business and mission objectives. We’re looking for a seasoned professional with a proven track-record to work in a culturally and economically diverse community that will build strong, collaborative partnerships.
Branch programs include child care and early learning, after school enrichment, family activities, chronic disease prevention, and free meal programs, as well as traditional YMCA programming like group exercise and aquatics. The Dale Turner branch serves a growing, diverse population of people in Shoreline, North Seattle, Lynnwood, Edmonds, Woodway, Lake Forest Park, and Mountlake Terrace.
The Dale Turner Family YMCA will be celebrating their 10th year in their 52,000 square foot facility in 2018. The branch serves approximately 4,900 membership units, 7,500 youth program participants, with a budget of $7.9 million annually. The staff team consist of 42 full time and 200 part time staff.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officers, the Branch Executive will be responsible for providing vision and leadership for all branch operations including membership, programming, local fundraising efforts, board, volunteer and community relations, financial management, and other assigned areas.

- Develops, directs, and monitors high quality programs which support branch and Association mission, goals, and strategies.
- Directs strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch.
- Directs the volunteer activities (policy and program) of the branch, building strong leadership from an invested and supportive Board of Directors that reflect the community and branch membership.
- Directs the financial development activities of the branch.
- Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
- Develops, implements and manages the financial plan of the branch and it’s $7.9M operating budget.
- Develops, directs and monitors high quality services for YMCA members and participants.
- Ensures the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities and equipment.
- Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of diverse staff leaders committed to the Y movement and values based leadership.
- Creates a strong sense of community where people of all backgrounds, genders, faith traditions, sexual orientations, and cultures feel welcome.
- 5+ years of management experience in positions of increasing responsibility, preferably in a YMCA of other not-for-profit agency.
- Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development, strategic planning, and change management.
- Proven record of hiring and developing a diverse, effective staff team.
- Enthusiasm and passion for community work and volunteer development; ability to recruit top community leaders from a variety of backgrounds.
- Proven success in growing annual fundraising campaigns through cultivation and retention, especially in diverse communities.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills; adept at successfully building internal and external relationships.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with diverse organizations.
- Innovative thinker and creative problem solver with a willingness and proven ability to challenge the status quo.
- Ability to be flexible, self-motivated and positive, and to respond to the dynamics of a changing environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, and ability to navigate a variety of communication styles.
- Ability to communicate in language(s) other than English will be highly preferred.
