Under the supervision of the Dover Executive Director, the Sports Director is primarily responsible for planning and implementing a yearly calendar of youth and adult sports. The Sports Director understands how to build relationships and be culturally competent to communicate to a diverse participant group.
Experience with aquatics and/or teens could add to the job portfolio and strengthen the case for a candidate.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, evaluates and schedules all staff and referees
- Manages and supervises the day-to-day operations in the Sports department
- Recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates all program volunteer coaches.
- Responsible for the delivery of all sports
- Provide brand-compliant marketing
- Create and monitor efficient program registration
- Evaluate and report data on all programs.
- Responsible for managing the sponsorship program- to include solicitation, collection and recognition.
- Grow programs and develop new and innovative offerings
- Conduct program quality survey/evaluation
- Referee and perform other program implementation duties as necessary
- Must be responsible for all facets of Risk Management within the sports department
- Participates in personal growth and Y professional development trainings
- Instill 5 character traits – faith, caring, honesty, respect and responsibility
- Responsible for any concession sales and managing concessions for sports programs and tournaments.
- Maintain relationships with area partners for program implementation
- Responsible for preparing and managing annual budget in the Sports
- Serve on YMCA Program Committee and YMCA Program Cabinet.
- Serve as staff liaison for annual We Build People Campaign.
- Represent the Y on appropriate community boards and task forces
- Any other assigned task or duties given.
Educational Background:
Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university.
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a related job or position.
- Must be willing to have and maintain the following certifications; CPR, First Aid and a CDL
- Experience in sports, aquatics and recreational programming
- Previous experience in public presentations or speaking in front of groups
- Knowledge in marketing, retention, sales and customer service
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $31,000.00 - $41,000.00
