Under the direction of the Senior Director, the Full Time Youth Development Director will plan, develop, manage, coordinate and conduct youth development programs including: preschool, after school care, child watch, summer day camp, tutoring, special events, and performing other departmental activities as required.  The Youth Development Director will oversee one full time hourly employee and multiple part time employees.  This position is a full time exempt position and hours may alter however traditional school year hours will be 10am-6pm M-F.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Ensure staff follow procedures and that all policies are met
  • Hire and train youth development staff
  • Schedule all youth development staff hours
  • Maintain salary and budget constraints
  • Maintain innovative programming
  • Maintain accurate and timely paperwork
  • Follow policies and procedures
  • Maintain a positive and professional appearance
  • During school year cooks and provides lunch to preschool class
  • Develops curriculum for all youth development classes
  • Plans and constructs all youth development programs
  • All other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Educational Background: 
Minimum High School diploma (or GED) however college degree preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Some experience in related field preferred
  • CDL license is a plus
  • Minimum 12 months experience in childcare
  • DHS Director’s Credentials (Minimum Bronze Level)
  • Basic computer, word, excel, and keyboard skills
  • Basic clerical skills i.e. record keeping, filing, billings, follow-up etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Able to handle difficult relationships with members and staff
  • Ability to relate and communicate effectively
  • Experience in customer service preferred
  • Have an understanding of the YMCA of the USA Child Care Guidelines
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position

Required Certifications

  • DHS Director’s Credentials (Minimum Bronze Level)
  • CPR & First Aid
  • CDL license is a plus
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $27,000.00 - $31,500.00
