The Training & Staff Development Specialist is an integral member of the YMCA’s Training and Leadership Development team responsible for maximizing employee development and engagement to achieve organizational strategy and goals. Help in the creation of a staff development plan that will enhance employee satisfaction, increase engagement and result in improved engagement and retention of staff, members and community. Training & Staff Development Specialist implements organizational training strategy, oversee its implementation and assess its outcomes.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Implement Engage Training at all levels within the Association
- Develop, implement and monitor systems to track member engagement feedback to increase member retention as well as assist with volunteer recruitment during the Annual Support Campaign
- Tabulate results from Net Promoter and Seer surveys
- Monthly reporting of Membership Data and Member Comment Cards
- Assist in the creation and implementation of the Olympic Peninsula YMCA annual Staff Development Training Calendar
- Accountable to ensure service offerings are developed, executed and aligned with organizational needs and goals. Works with team members to align offerings for employee on-boarding development
- Responsible for ensuring that all employees are effectively on-boarded into the organization and participate in relevant development and course offerings
- Schedule and coordinate locations for on-boarding and other trainings at Association Office, Branch locations and in the community as needed
- Facilitates the use of internal/external subject matter experts and collaborators in design and delivery of training programs, including scheduling trainers
- Assist in design of curricula to meet role-based and leadership training and development plans
- Strategies in place to retain staff and engage them in the work and cause of the Y. Staff members understand how their roles directly contribute to the advancement of the Y’s cause
- Research and utilize appropriate aspects of the Y-USA model of Cause Driven Leadership Competency in training and development work
- Develop and document a master list of complete trainings as well as training needs for each staff member
- Meet weekly with supervisor to discuss schedule, staff updates, concerns and goals
- Submits hours exceptions accurately on electronic timecard; within timelines for supervisor approval
- Upholds YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting and risk management. Adheres to policies related to boundaries with youth
- Other duties as assigned
Educational Background:
High School Diploma or GED required, Associates or higher preferred
Skills/Experience:
- Must have exceptional written, speaking, engagement and presentation skills and must be 21 years of age or older
- Strong organizational and time management skills; must be able to multi-task and adapt to multiple priorities
- Demonstrated ability for detailed and accurate reporting
- Friendly, enthusiastic and conscientious leader with excellent knowledge and skills in the areas of service and relationship management
- Ability to travel locally, when needed, to locations throughout the Olympic Peninsula to deliver training. Office will be located at Sequim Association Office.
- Works a flexible schedule, that will include a varied work day that includes occasional evenings and weekends
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), Daxko Operations and Daxko Engage
- Excel in initiative, enthusiasm and understanding of and commitment to the goals and mission of the Olympic Peninsula YMCA
- Ability to respond calmly to safety and emergency situations
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, complete required child abuse prevention and other trainings as required
- YMCA approved CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of employment or first available training date
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $31,492.00 - $39,365.00
