This position oversees the development and operations of varied programs such as healthy living, aquatics, youth sports, youth activities, and membership. Recruits trains, and supports assigned staff.
1.Assists CEO in advancing the Y’s growth, positive impact and longevity in the community.
2.As the senior staff person, this position will assist the CEO in making day to day operational improvements and advances in programmatic efficiency.
3.Promotes a team environment and high level of engagement among Y staff.
4.Builds a culture of excellence inside the YMCA.
5.Gains a broad organizational knowledge of local association.
6.To take responsibility for the YMCA in the absence of the CEO.
7.Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote program and/or membership growth for the YMCA.
8.Has direct responsibility for programs and program staff implementing programmatic strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of existing members. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
9.Recruits, trains, develops, schedules and directs program staff and volunteers as needed in areas of responsibility. Reviews and evaluates program staff performance.
10.Expands program portfolio in all areas especially developing innovative programs to reach into the community to those who are disadvantages or at risk. Directs and supervises program activities to fulfill the strategic plan, meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
11.Promotes program enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members.
12.Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
13.Operates programs in accordance with the budget and take appropriate actions to address budget variances.
14.Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation
in programs.
15.Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events and participates with other staff in community events.
16.Performs other duties as assigned.
17. Work hours may vary based on management responsibilities and program times.
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
- 2-5 years related experience, preferably in a YMCA of other non-profit agency.
- Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budget, marketing and public relations, program development and fundraising.
- Minimum age requirements may apply; minimum age of 21.
- All typical training requirements such as CPR, Blood Borne pathogens, etc. must be completed within 30 days of hire.
- Begin or continue personal and professional growth via YUSA LCDC by completing YMCA program specific and membership specific certifications.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
