Working closely with the Director of Research Services, the Panel Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring the health, sustainability, and effectiveness of AARP's two proprietary research panels, including the dynamic communities platform. They will lead project management for the panels, effective interfacing between internal AARP clients and the Panel Management partner. They will also lead the development and implementation of metrics, KPIs, and reporting on panel use to improve the ROI of those assets.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Oversees AARP's Panel Management Partner (PMP) to ensure their optimization of AARP's two proprietary research panels across multiple dimensions (panel health, panel replenishment and expansion, panel engagement, and client services).
- Develops and maintains an effective panel management strategy, including processes and tools, so that panel use is efficient and simple for AARP Research clients.
- Leads AARP's PMP in the design, development, production, and ongoing improvement of panel health analytics and reporting so as to ensure the entire team (AARP and the PMP) is looking at the right metrics at the right frequency so as to ensure an accurate and actionable assessment of panel health including leading indicators of potential problems as well as areas for capitalization.
- Drives the development and execution of ongoing replenishment and targeted expansion efforts within each of AARP's panels to ensure the panel's integrity, sustainability, and sufficiency for executing AARP research studies.
- Steers the development and ongoing and appropriate use of a robust set of non-project based panelist activities that effectively bolsters panelist engagement.
- Oversees the creation and ongoing enhancement of an engaging, effective, and attractive panel interface that enhances panelists' experience.
- Monitors, manages, and reconciles the social media presence of the panels so as to maintain a positive and desirable portrayal of the panels in the public sphere.
- Contributes to the establishment of consistent and effective standard practices and procedures that lead to the accurate fielding of projects, the delivery of reliable data, and an overall positive panelist experience.
- Supervises the provision of exceptional panelist support functions including timely and straightforward incentive fulfillment/redemption.
- Monitors the effectiveness and efficiency of the panelist compensation program, encouraging its ongoing development and innovation, and maintaining awareness of industry standard (and best) practices including awareness of incentive fulfillment programs at competing panels.
Educational Background:
Completion of an advanced degree in social/behavioral science, marketing research, or a related discipline.
Skills/Experience:
- 5 years of experience in research panel operations.
- Demonstrated experience across the entire research process including a demonstrated, practical command of study design, sampling, questionnaire development, fielding (with first-hand experience managing online data collection), multivariate data analysis, and reporting.
- Uncompromising commitment and proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service to research clients.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated abilities in analytical reasoning and logical problem solving and a high attention to detail, with exacting standards to maintain accuracy in all work products.
- Job requirements involve working non-traditional hours to meet client demands.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Leadership experience managing the work of colleagues/teams who are not direct reports
- Demonstrated ability to train and develop new and/or more junior staff.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Highly technical knowledge of applied research (both phone and online)
- Ability to be collaborative and adapt while successfully managing and completing multiple time-critical projects and analyses requiring rapid turnaround.
- Experience utilizing data analysis programs such as SPSS and WinCross is a plus.
- Experience with probability-based panels a plus.
