POSITION SUMMARY
Cascade Bicycle Club seeks a self-driven Technology Manager to have broad oversight of Cascade’s technology infrastructure and business applications. This role will contribute to strategy conversations and ensure that our technology is optimized to support Cascade’s strategic direction. The Technology Manager will maintain a high level of expertise in Salesforce CRM, Drupal CMS, and connected applications. The Technology Manager position requires an organized, self‐motivated team player who can collaborate successfully with non‐technical staff and technical vendors on high level strategy and technical details.
The Technology Manager works with all departments throughout the year with an emphasis on the Event Registration season where Cascade brings in 80% of its annual revenue through a complex eCommerce system on Cascade.org. The Technology Manager’s role and schedule is largely dictated by the multiple technical projects, integrations, or implementations that are chosen for a given season or year(s).
The Technology Manager collaborates with a designated tech lead or product owner in each department to weigh the tech priorities and plan for successful tech projects that increase customer value, revenue, data driven decision making, and enhance productivity. The Technology Manager collaborates often with the Executive Director and Senior Leadership Team on all high profile initiatives. The position supervises the Database Collaborator, Developer, and part-time IT Help Desk Technician.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Technology and Business Solutions Management (45%)
- Research and Implement Technical Solutions: Seek out and evaluate technologies to advance organization mission and goals and stay up-to-date.
- Total Cost of Ownership TCO: Continually evaluate the TCO of Cascade’s technology solutions and aim to reduce the TCO which includes SaaS annual fees and licences, upgrades, patches, maintenance and support from staff and vendors, training and lack of flexibility to meet new business needs.
- Accurate Data: Ensure that core data systems are functioning well, up to date and able to meet current and emerging program needs.
- Data driven decision making: Collaborate with staff and the Database Coordinator to enhance usability of data systems and data quality.
- Project Management: Manage multiple concurrent projects, including project budgets
- Project Portfolio Management: Identify and maintain prioritized list of future projects in collaboration with product owners and directors in each department.
- Training: Develop and implement training plans for users and oversee the maintenance or technical support documents.
- Policy: Set security policies, procedures - including disaster recovery procedures.
- Lead and Supervise the tech team to support the entire organization: Database Coordinator, Developer, and part-time IT Help Desk Coordinator.
Projects and Collaboration (30%)
- Manage tech vendors to support, configure and customize Salesforce, Drupal and MailChimp in collaboration with our internal Developer, Site Builders and product owners.
- Manage all tech projects with an exciting mix of new eCommerce features, purchase pathway enhancements, customer self service tools, donor cultivation and moves management, serving dynamic content via web and email, UX enhancements, marketing automations, legislator petitioning and more.
- Collaborate with product owners in the tradeoffs between of business needs and technical constraints while keeping TCO and long term flexibility in mind.
- Serve as the primary driver of an Agile SDLC: Collect and analyze requirements, design solutions, implement, manage testing and future iterations.
Application Administration (20%)
- Collaborate with Database Coordinator to maintain Salesforce and Drupal database, including contact data management and design, data entry and imports, reporting, administration and cleanup.
- Develop and implement strategies and tactics to optimize use of the Salesforce database and integrated communications/engagement platforms; including MailChimp, Phone2Action, Drupal 7 CMS, and other tools to support the organization’s programs.
- Manage hosting for all applications: Websites, databases, domains (DNS), SSL Certs and all SaaS providers.
- Manage application user access with permissions and training appropriate for the role.
IT, Hardware, Network (5%)
- Manage of all on premise technology: Hard/software, PC/Mac’s, ESP/ISP, LAN/WAN, servers/storage and backup, VoIP Phone system.
- Maintain network integrity, security, backups and disaster recovery procedures.
- Manage the procurement, provision and support of workstations, printers and phones.

QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate is a creative and tech-savvy professional who is passionate about Cascade’s mission and has a proven track record of managing successful technology projects that include tradeoffs between business needs and technical constraints. A strong candidate will demonstrate strong project management skills, genuine interest in helping people, and will have the ability to focus on high ROI tech initiatives among a flurry of competing needs. Additional qualifications include:
- 5+ years of technology management experience and 3+ years of managing all aspects of an agile SDLC including requirements gathering, design, development and testing.
- Broad understanding of technology solutions, trends and best practices in a business or nonprofit setting with CRM and CMS experience.
- Excellent leadership, supervisory, and planning skills. Demonstrated success collaborating with a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.
- Experience and aptitude to make strategic level recommendations and guide decisions that influence the direction of the organization.
- Exceptional written and verbal skills. Ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non‐technical colleagues, stakeholders, and vendors.
- Project management skills and strong organizational skills, including attention to detail.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, and manage multiple projects with competing demands while maintaining a commitment to excellence.
- Ability to work independently, adapt to changes in the work environment and react calmly to frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge, management and development of a CMS, CRM, eCommerce, Email Marketing, Financial, Advocacy and Volunteer Engagement systems.
- Experience managing open source and off the shelf Saas solutions with app/module installs and configurations to keep custom code and future maintenance to a minimum.
- Data Model evaluation for imports/exports for migrations or integrations.
- Familiarity with Salesforce, Drupal 7, Drupal Commerce, Wordpress, MailChimp, Phone2Action, Pantheon, Google Suite, Financial Edge.
- Experience creating and managing budgets and working within budget parameters
- Working knowledge of the Drupal theme layer.
- Experience working with HTML5, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, and jQuery.
- Experience developing Drupal sites w/a local environment pushed up to a git repo.
- Experience lightly customizing Contrib modules and creating custom Drupal modules.
SALARY RANGE
$61,000 - $78,000 annually. This is a full-time, exempt position.
Due to the large-scale nature of events and their importance to the fiscal well being of Cascade and WA Bikes, staff members are required to work several events a year, a mix of mandatory all-hands events and choice events. This position may also require some evening and weekend work.
